Ok, I'm not sure... but wasn't it a birthday pool party that these guests were actually invited to?  And it was just some asshole neighbor that didn't like those guests being there?
It was a birthday party at least.  I really don't know if they were trespassing or not, or if any of them were residents.  Or how that even works.
I'm not even sure if gated communities actually have the legal right to bar entry to people who don't live there. I mean, maybe, if all of the land is owned by a private corporation, but then they'd have to also be responsible for the roads, sewers, electricity, & related infrastructure, which seems unlikely. If it's something like a condo complex that has a walled pool for residents or a private gym complex that requires people to buy memberships to use their facilities, sure, but if it's a public pool that happens to be located in a high-income neighborhood I'd call bullshit.

From what I understand, it was party that people got invited to, the invites and party info went viral on Twitter and shit, there was a DJ, there was supposed to be a cover charge, these kids and others showed up expecting to be able to get in, and the guard at the gate told them to get lost, so they ignored him, went inside, the residents saw them, said some ugly shit, got teenage guff in return and then the cops were called.

Reminds me of when I was like 20, and a friend of mine's mother called us asking to come kick like 30 kids out of her house that her daughter declared she was having over for a party. We threatened, we yelled, we said we'd call the cops....eventually it took my friend walking around angrily with an (unloaded) shotgun before any of them would take us seriously.

So I can sympathize somewhat with the situation. But not the cop.

Some of them were uninvited, which is what started this clusterfuck.

Riiiiight. Because crashing a party is totally legit grounds for sending a dozen cops to respond.

I'm halfway expecting an argument of "this is why HOAs should have their own private security forces..."

The thing is, shouldn't two cops telling them to GTFO be enough?

Oh boy, here we fukken go.

http://rt.com/usa/266953-dallas-police-shooting-chase/

Some chucklefuck in an armored van opened fire on the Dallas police headquarters and police cars at 12:30 AM, and police also discovered four duffel bags, one of which is confirmed to be full of pipe bombs. Suspect identified himself as James Boulware, who has had three domestic violence cases with police involvement in the past, and blamed the police for taking his kids and "calling him a terrorist".

Witnesses are saying there could have been other shooters, but that's all unconfirmed.

I do apologize for using RT, but the American press doesn't seem to be awake yet.

So that guy is doing terrorists attacks to force people to stop calling him a terrorists?

I see nothing wrong with that plan.

Well, fortunately he's absolutely shit at it. No police or bystanders have been harmed so far.

Well, Stalin for example did purge people who accused him of being a horrible dictator...

A dictator who does horrible things, I mean. Stalin was by no means terrible at dictatoring.

Surely his secretaries should get some credit?

Well, American news journalists are definetly awake now: http://www.cnn.com/2015/06/13/us/dallas-police-headquarters-shooting/index.html

They're still not sure if it was just one guy, and from the briefing, it sounds like at least two, maybe? Not sure, at least one is maybe dead.
