Cycle 23
You force into another bit of invincitite, this time on the bottom of the area. As you finish doing so, you spot something moving and abruptly stop decrypting to focus on the mover. While the view through only parts of the invincitite is of horrible quality, you can see the whateveritis is about as tall as the opening it came in from, and it is probably not made of any kind of rock or crystal structure; it is also colored a shade of amethyst. Thats all you can make out without revealing yourself and fabricating a crystal in the space above you, so you continue moving onwards below the structure and setup a farseer. You find a large shaft, and vibrations that probably mean more amethyst ones. In the cavern, you've explored enough to be fairly certain of some areas, despite lacking vision to them.

Cycle 24
More assimilation! More power!
...More confusion about why the invincitite structure has a long shaft. Surely they know about gravity?

The difference between the rock structures and the invincitite one showing on the map is this: The rock ones are not that big, and would be easier to look at on a seperate map once you can see inside them, while the invincistructure is large enough to see in general on the main one, but you won't see details there. The rooms can be described when asked about instead.

Hmmm.
Continue observation. Send out some tech-pulses from the invincitite, see if we can check out what's with these moving things. Continue assimilating matter, particularly along the side of the shaft they've made. I grow interested in where they send it.

As well, assimilate some of the stone of the smoothing structure that was destroyed. Not the surface, mind you. I just want to get some more information on them.

And explore some more with our feeler crystals; the ones that don't have farsight crystals on the end, that is. Place some farsight crystals on the ends once they get a bit out. Actually, don't explore with the right one, because we can find out through matter assimilation.

Excess energy will be put towards the assimilation of more matter. We can refine our current stuff soon enough. Fill holes that lie completely within our territory with storage. Build a Focusing Crystal near the base of the Feeler Crystal pillar, and under the farthest stone house we currently have crystals under.

And I'm curious as to why an area at (-18, 4) is still dark, despite being so near it...it makes me wonder what might be there...

If you're talking about the black spot on the surface, thats just me missing something. Its just an extension to the hole in the ground and a bit of dirt.
Also, tech-echoes only reveal tech. So you'll see their uniform (maybe) and their gear, not the creature.

I know we might see that. That's exactly what I want to see; that, and if they do wear anything. Seeing their uniform will give us an approximation of size and shape, gear will give us some idea of capability.

If you want detail like that, it'll have to get closer or you'll have to attune more of the structure :P
The original echoes were looking at the chunk of wall directly adjacent to it.

Bit busy this week, we're going somewhere tomorrow until sunday. I'll update if I can.

Cycle 25
You send out a tech-echo from the attuned invincitite as you wait some subcycles to see if the amethyst one comes any closer, but as it returns to the room it came from the tech echo returns and reveals that while they do have a significant amount of tech on them, its now too far away to distinguish all of it. So instead, you leave Invincitite Outpost in charge of paying close attention to the structure inhabitants. You on the otherhand, fabricate additional storage crystals, then head downwards. The shaft will lead somewhere of interest, you are certain.

...The shaft leads to something. A thing which is heavily shielded and has an unknown tech device above it, sitting at the bottom of the shaft. There is also a container sitting on the unknown tech, attached to the rest of the shaft via a complex but otherwise uninteresting pulley system. Presumably the container is pulled upwards for the beings on the above level to go down, but whatever the device underneath it is, it does not look like a crash-suppressor. The shaft is not even spinning at all, or doing the requirements for any known to you method of anti-grav creation to actually work, so the vital gravity question remains unanswered. Construction of Outpost Cavern and Outpost Smoothed focusing crystals completes without anything major happening.
Assimilvestigation of the smoothed rock ruin results in little of interest: The rock is more to your liking than you'd expected from carved stone, but other than a scorched and partially-crumbled array of glyphs on what presumably used to be a belowground room's floor and a vague sense of unease while probing the glyphed material, there is nothing left of the place. The rock above your investigation point had melted and eventually cooled back down into a solid, there are traces of cracks that are probably digging efforts.

Aww. Spoiler makes it less cool. Ah well. It's only gonna get bigger, after all.

First off, continue the assimilation. We have enough energy production now that we're in good shape for a while, and I'd like to keep that up. Continuing to assimilate large amounts of medium matter, and leaving the smooth stone alone for the moment, is a good way to continue our growth on a large scale. We're certainly damned big, after all.

I'm interested in finding a way to upgrade our core, but that can wait, for the moment, I think.

I would like to construct a couple new forms of crystal, though. Sorry. :P

Spoiler: Defense (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Support Pillar Stuff (click to show/hide)

Build Storage Crystals in the empty spaces near the surface, so that it becomes flat. Preferably, reform the Low-Q crystals touching the surface near the invincitite into storage crystals too. Turn one Refined Crystal and one Feeler Crystal into storage crystals as well, preferably, so that the two groups on the right are touching(you said they're more efficient in numbers...). The biggest hole, is, of course, the hole to the left of our core, a bit in front of the smooth stone houses or whatever. I'm mildly curious about how things are on a three dimensional scale, but that doesn't matter too much. Anyway. Next, turn all the storage crystals open to the surface into Shield Crystals. They should change their appearance to look like just more ground or whatever. Finally, reform all remaining storage  crystals into high-density storage crystals. I don't know how much energy we'll have left after all this.

I would like to intersperse Support Crystals through our structure, in whatever ends up being the most efficient, hopefully pleasing(I'm not asking you to make it look pretty, I'm just hoping it does. *shrug*). Don't need an earthquake bringing everything tumbling down. Maybe a few more by the invincitite, as what I want to do next(and this may take multiple cycles, a lot of my ideas end up doing so) could damage things. I want to assimilate two additional blocks into the structure, near the core. So we can get closer and whatnot. Don't need, or have the energy, to assimilate all of it, not yet. But that will come later. Assimilating a little bit of the invincitite down near the mystery technology would be beneficial as well.

If we somehow have energy leftover, like if this went into the next cycle, put that energy towards assimilating matter, converting feeler crystals into refined crystals, and if there is miraculously something left, due to me failing to know about math in any reasonable capacity, put it towards refining Low-Q crystal. Snowballing=Good.
