I say we go for twin action, so that we dont need to hose plane with flak round. It should be more than fast enough.

I agree with setting up rail gun though. but what are we shooting at? i dont think shooting plane or tank with rail gun will do much but make holes. A explosive would be alot more effective and you cant shoot explosive in railgun for obvious reason.....

I purpose a handhelp RPG , am small rocket that lock on to target with laser then you throw it up in the air and it home to the target, we need proof of concept before setting spec.

Project Proposal:0002 "Dragon's Fire"
Classification: small arms/other
Abstract: By manipulating existing fuel canisters and dispersal systems, we could possibly create a weapon that can disperse and ignite burning fuel into our enemies. This 'flamethrower' has potential uses in close to medium quarters combat as well as applications in eliminating entrenched or fortified opponents

Advanced 122 mm SMART gyro round.

A special round/missile launched from our artillery. The fact that it arcelerates on it's own power allows faster firerate and longer range. Reduced payload is made up for by better accuracy due to post launch guidance. Multiple warheads available.

And that obvious reason would be? Just use a magnetized sabot. You might have some trouble with the detonator.

Well if it dont explode by the force in the cannon it wont explode on contract too.
Well unless it arm it self after it leave the the barrel?

So by your logic, no conventional cannons can use high explosives either. Remember, a railgun arcelerates a projectile gradually through the entire barrel. A conventional gun uses an explosion for a near instantanous arceleration.

Yes, the thing is, railguns take up massive amounts of energy for the speed. And it would definitely do much more than just make a hole in a plane.

It depends on the design of the railgun and the speed desired. A supersonic shot would do quite a bit more damage than just punching through.

Still after bolting the thick steel rails in place, the gun is ready to fire for the first time.
With a loud sonic boom , a white hot lump of steel streaks down the range at hypersonic speed before violently puncturing the ancient tank hull.

Buoyant with success the testing continues until the rails start to melt.

Strap plastic explosives onto trained pigeons. Send them into Kedardoviastanian territory. Detonate when a settlement is reached. Profit.
