Spoiler: 894 AD (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Battle Log (click to show/hide)

The only battle in 894AD was a bloody mistake. Delfador, an old Danish Knight, rode into Sheffield expecting an easy settlement: wasn't this the place the Mercian allies had said he they could have? The fresh sprouting of crossbow bolts in his chest suggested otherwise.

Elsewhere, Wessex and the Danes threatened to land on Ireland, evading the Danish fleets. In the North, the two main forks of the Danish cavalry met up outside the walls of Fort Montane, which the Pictish King had rode back to contest.

Sigh. Things are very quickly getting very annoying. The northern-ireland Dane invasion force is pretty trivial (as it is probably equivalent to about 4 of my knights, and lack all mobility due to having no calvary), but the southern Wessex force looks to be much much more annoying. I wouldn't be surprised if they managed to take at least a city and set me back quite a bit.
E: And catching all those northern danish calvary is a huge pain in the butt.

...I said Shrewsbury, not Sheffield.

I was certain of it.

I did let you take Shrewsbury, after all.

On a different note, any suggestions for how to name my Knights?

I mean, naming them doesn't do anything but add to the game experience, so there's no reason to be sneaky about that, at least, and Lemon probably has some good ideas.

I'm trying to think of the term for when a Lord calls upon the nobles under him to pay their due and do their duty as warriors, since that's kinda what I'm fluffing it as; the Mercian Royal Family is beginning to run out of militiamen to arm and is now pulling up the noble families to fight. I just can't remember what it's bloody called. Fiefdom is the system, I know that much, but...ergh.

From the 14th:

I am getting another Breeding Pasture, but you're taking Sheffield, remember?

I was surprised at the time but didn't want to question your generosity. No hard feelings, genuine misunderstanding.

You're sort of calling your banners, so bannermen, or lieges or [area name] miltia.

Oh damnit. No wonder you'd been saying it would help your coffers so much.

Shows me for trying to do real-life-ish names that cause confusion in both places.

Hmmm...I like both of those quite a lot. I think maybe I'll go with Lieges for the moment, and once I need to start producing Halberdiers/Swordsman I can call those Bannermen, maybe, since it implies a slightly lower standing but a bit more of them. Or something else. I dunno. Fief-Knights? Liege-Knights? *shrugs* I can always (theoretically, if I can remember where they each came from) do it next turn.
