If two opposing armies meet in the middle of their movements, do they fight, or bypass each other.
Each army moves sequentially rather than simultaneously, so armies never meet in the middle of movement.

Okay then.

Its important to note a few things about movement.
A) The army with a higher speed always moves first.
B) A player can choose the order in which their units move as long as they are the same speed.
C) A single friendly unit can block a hostile army of any size.

I wasn't aware of this.

Neither was I. I thought all armies of the same speed had their movement order chosen randomly

Nope. Its a multi level priority queue.
1) All the fastest units have the highest priority.
       A) After that, units are chosen by which player is moving first this turn. This means that the player that moves first will move *all* their armies of a speed before any other will get to move any units of this speed.
               i) After that, units are chosen by the order their move is submitted in a turn, in what appears to be a stack, with the first units submitted going on the bottom.
I do totally understand your confusion and never realizing this: They don't move in the order that you submit their moves, they move in the reverse order that you submit their moves. So the one you order to move last will in fact move first, and the one you order to move first will move last.
E: Also, a bump for Varee.

Fortunately in the last game we played I never had to rely on such fine tuned ordering, but I could see how it would be helpful in some cases (like sending smaller armies to clear the way so bigger armies might pass without stopping).

Spoiler: Battle Log (click to show/hide)

Intelligence had reached the Mercians of a gathering of Picts near the ruins of York. They raced there and found bloodied men resting amidst slaughter. Without further ado, the hammer of Mercia fell on these men. When the slaughter was done they saw that they had killed Danes, earlier arrived at that spot for to kill the Picts themselves. That could be the only laugh the Picts had that season as a vast Irish army made a historic landing in Windermere, their knights stepping on the mainland for the first time, eager to ride through a land ripe for conquest. Meanwhile, Causantin II rode feverishly towards the highlands to take back his lost cities... would it be too late? And in the south, would Wessex repel the new wave of Danes?

Kashyyk, due to an error of mine, I accidentally put the burning ones in to the north: I've edited them out (they don't appear this year at all). You may or may not want amend your turn in light of that.

Thought they would head to 16,35 than head back.  No matter, them splitting their forces has given me the edge I need.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And don't lie.  That force is composed entirely of catapults.  It may land at Sane's Outpost, but you're gonna send it after me.

It doesn't matter who it goes after really, its made entirely of catapults. A single maxed out unit could probably wipe them all on its own.
