"What is this slop? Nevermind the booze, not even any real food."

Sophie was getting increasingly frustrated with her hungover state, and consequentially whoever had supplied this ship with only nutrient glop.

Go to the hydroponics area and look for a place to set up a still.

((I have resigned myself to action penalties for as long as it takes to brew alcohol.))

"Oh.. oh dear," Katelyn whispered to herself.
"I, er... I am gonna go report this to the.. um... yeah."
She stumbled over her own words due to this terrible turn of events.

Get to the main deck and tell the others about the death.

((Four out of the six active crew are present, including you.

This information was also stated via radio, which everyone can hear.))

I'm tired and can't read well. I'll come back a few hours later and edit my post when I'm coherent again, if that's okay.

((Waiting on the two edits for now))

Vex attempt to fix the computer while talking in to radio some more" Guys someone need to rid the room of this body and the puke inducing smell. If one of you dont wanna do it, I will hual him out and put him in the elevator."

I feel like it's time to introduce a new mechanic just about now to clarify this.

Repairs

There are always objects and systems to repair. But just like real life, human fingers are pretty terrible at manipulating small pieces of metal.
When repairing something, there are a number of things to consider:

  • The kind of repairs you are making. Different tasks may require different tools. A pipe, for example, may require Force to repair instead of Wisdom.
  • Do you know what the problem is? Characters do not magically know all information related to the game. You can't just look at an object and see that it is broken, for example, you'd have to turn it on or find out visually (e.g a cable is unplugged). If you can't pinpoint what is wrong with the item, then you get no bonuses from attributes when repairing it.
  • Do you have the means to fix it? If your character doesn't have powered tools or the proper manipulators for the task, you will suffer a penalty based on the difficulty of the action. Trying to fix in the aforementioned pipe with your bare hands will only give a -1 penalty, for example, but trying to perform surgery without cutting tools will incur a massive penalty. If your character is skilled enough, however, he might be able to do something despite penalties!
The following is a list of criteria for how difficult it is to repair something:
-Lacks needed tools: -1
-Lacks expertise: -1
-Lacks spare parts: -2
-Lacks needed machinery: -3

There are also three main Engineering traits, which provide bonuses to repairs and maintainence:
-Electrical Engineer: Gives bonuses to computer and electronics repair that goes beyond basic circuitry, such as robotics, software/hardware integration, and batteries/poweer generation.
-Starship Engineer: Gives bonuses to starship/habitat-specific repairs, such as life support, engines, weaponry, some machinery, and basic electrical circuits. This also applies to habitats on surface worlds with inhospitable conditions.
-Mechanical Engineer: Gives bonuses to structure/machinery repairs that are relevant to fields outside of starships. This includes armor, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, material failure and fatigue, and heavy machinery.

@Varee
So since you haven't yet determined the problem, you will not get a bonus from your Wisdom trait. Additionally, since you don't have any replacement parts at hand , you will get a -2. This means that to succeed you must roll a 5 or 6, but anything below that will fail or harm the computer. Also I'm not sure if Starship Engineer would give you a bonus to repairing computers, but it gives you training such that you don't get an additional penalty.

The spare parts issue can be resolved with what is available on the ship, so I'm not setting you up for failure or anything. ^^
None of our characters specialize with computers, however.

Vex attempt to fix the computer while talking in to radio some more" Guys someone need to rid the room of this body and the puke inducing smell. If one of you dont wanna do it, I will hual him out and put him in the elevator."
-"I need a drink first. Nobody should have to dispose of a corpse sober."

((To clarify whether or not I'm speaking over the radio system I'll use -" " to signify radio and just " " to signify speech outside of the comm system.))

((This sounds like a good convention.))

Roll 5 - Exiles: The Dark Descent

The ship's dashboard displays an error.

ERROR: Please connect Navigation module

"How? How did he die? Did he just fall asleep and never wake up? Seems unlikely..."

Investigate the death. Find what clues I can as to the death of the captain. Autopsy report squad, GOOOOOO!

[Find cause of death: 1+2/8 = ~2] You creep over to the body and start looking for clues, twisting the chair slightly with your arm. In typical jump-scare fashion, the head tips sideways and swivels around as if looking at you, [Reaction: 3] causing you to back away, slightly nervous from the shock. After the bones settle again, you determine that the captain shot himself, and find the pistol--a heavily rusted revolver--lying near a table.

Vex attempt to fix the computer while talking in to radio some more" Guys someone need to rid the room of this body and the puke inducing smell. If one of you dont wanna do it, I will hual him out and put him in the elevator."

[Geek Squad: 1-2 = 1]

As Philbert heads off, stating he will look for something, you take a look inside the computer. The first step, of course, when fixing a computer, is to check if the motherboard and power supply are the problem. Disconnecting everything except cooling systems and the motherboard, you tap the power button. The fans start to wheeze--and you quickly notice that something has caught fire, blowing smoke into your face.

"Hey, Vex, I fixed the wires, but something is still wrong. Do you have much experience with computer repair?" Leave to the Manufacturing Room.

You miss the fire, as you are already out of the room. Walking past the rest of the control facilities, you make your way into the part of the grav-ring labelled 'Manufacturing.' Here, you find an open room about the size of a small gymnasium, but only as high as the other three meter rooms on the deck.
The room looks like a usual metal shop. There are stations with various sets of machining tools, as well as storage closets containing metal stock and power tools. Everything is in pristine condition, [Luck: 4] except for a handheld radio like your own, lying on the floor next to a table. Its outer casing is slightly dented.

[Find Hydroponics: 5+1-1/7 = ~4] There has to be some sustainable food supply... they can't have expected you to find a planet with actual edible life on it just to survive. Perhaps, however, there is some sort of grav-ring or other system that provides a much better growing environment. You look around and find an elevator labelled only 'C.' In desperation, you get on and press the button inside. The gravity slowly increases to the levels you were used to, but you're still dizzy and stumble into the next hallway with windows looking into some kind of greenhouse. Inside, you notice robotic arms tending various plants, including potatoes, various vegetables, strawberries, and most importantly of all: grapes.

Look for bacteria suitable for fermentation and mash gaps with bacteria in sterile container. Finding none mash gaps by themselves and pray to Bacchus there is enough natural bacteria on the outsides of the grapes.
