It is the most important thing outside of natural skills for combat in the entire game.

i got most of that stuff worked out all right. but the biggest problem i am having now is that my birdmen are kinda dumb when it comes to flying lol. they will quit a task because something is "inaccessible" despite the fact that they could easily fly to that location. it seems as though given some time they will think of something else to do and will finally fly off, but still... any way i can get them to fly more efficiently?

Flying AI is bugged in 34.11. You could upgrade your mod to the new version.
