I'd seen Elemental power armor before, but today I learned it's also a name for the 2-2.5 meter tall genetically enhanced supersoldiers inside!  Sorta like SPARTANs from Halo but more so.

moreso and drastically predating, but yeah. Also less so, too, though, as elementals aren't really special ops or anything like it, at least insofar as anything trying to get by outside an actual mech or heavy armor or whatever on btech battlefields are anything but. Basically just line infantry or somethin', if less suicidal than most IS infantry

Not very much space marine either, though. Iirc elemental gene tweaking and active production was still a thing. Also neither the elementals not their armor were particularly special, near as I can recall. If anything I'd almost draw a parallel to Uruk-hai in power armor or thereabouts.

Even with giant tanks wielding unfathomable firepower, there's still going to be something helpful about troops that can fit inside of a building, rather than flattening it.

That's the good stuff. It looks like a pretty version of Totally Accurate Battle Simulator.

Well, that's why they made UrbanMechs: for when you want a 'Mech you can disguise as a small grain silo.

The Inner Sphere's mech obsession has always made me laugh. Apparently crankshafts are a dangerous forbidden technology in the far future, internal combustion engines aside, so the only way to properly take advantage of myomer is to reorganize the entire military around 50-ton walking tanks and relegate everything with wheels to a supporting role.

That, and tanks are bad at water and hills. And getting shot from the side.

They're actually quite useful when used in a mixed lance. The tall targets get shot, and the tanks get ignored long enough to get dangerous places.

Fairness where it's due, iirc there's some hella' nasty tanks et al in Btech. They just don't see much screen time 'cause giant robots.

Wasn't it the Demolisher with dual AC20s? And the SRM carriers with 60 shot volleys. And the Shrek with 3 PPCs.

And the Saladin. Cheap enough to buy spares for when it inevitably fails the PSR to turn and crashes into something. It's an AC/20 hovertank that moves faster than a Jenner. It'll last 1-2 rounds of getting shot at, but the AC/20 behind them makes the opponent consider what they want to aim at, and probably gets them out of position.
