I think they both were just injured. A shot to the abdomen is survivable with immediate medical care as well, so they'll probably live to fight climate change next week. Besides, if one or both of them died, others would certainly send them their thoughts and prayers in turn and thus take up their legacy.

I'm having serious trouble parsing this remark because I feel like you probably don't mean Star Wars, as that'd imply you'd somehow completely missed the past 30 years or so of Star Wars media.

Sure, but it's always been a kind of background thing, where the movies were done and the stuff was kinda continuing that universe and expanding it. Once the new movies hit tho the shit got kicked into overdrive in a race to maximize the cashflow from a newly revived thing.
