What is that Mundus game? A Google search turns up too many unrelated stuff.

It's the name of the world in The Elder Scrolls, Morrowind/Oblivion etc.
(Also that image is clickable to go to the fan webcomic it's from)

Miss America’s costume in the Miss Universe beauty pageant (I don’t usually pay attention to it, my attention was gotten from a link off of Vox) http://tomandlorenzo.com/2017/11/miss-universe-national-costumes-2017-part-three-oddballs-headscratchers/

Miss Myanmar’s (bottom of the list)(which is the linked comment that got my attention) http://tomandlorenzo.com/2017/11/miss-universe-national-costumes-2017-part-two-came-props/

That's actually all highly amusing. A parade of wonder and comedy.

I'm personally a fan of the ridiculous Miss Iceland and Norway outfits. Vikings wore horned helmets, right? I guess a woman going out there with a nasal helm wouldn't go too well though.

Edit: actually Miss Israel is pretty good too. As the comments say, I feel as if I've seen that outfit in a Bollywood movie before.

All of it is highly amusing, yeah, mainly because of the sillyness and extremes that they go to. Props to Miss Nigeria for the ‘save the rhinos’ thing though. The Miss America one is somehow the lowest key one of those pictured so far (because, you know, AMERICA #1!), giant glowing atom nonwithstanding.

No.

That was sarcasm, I probably should've indicated that better.

Their ships sailed the oceans with shields at the sides, right?

Also, I genuinely thought Miss Austria was holding a lightsaber. Would have been only redeeming feature.

I had no trouble detecting the sarcasm A Thing wrote - because context matters. The horned helmet thing is widely known to be a myth, so his ", right?" on the end alluded to the misconception itself. Asking for validation for a well known false statement is a deliberate give-away that you're being sarcastic. Showing that a comparable linguistic construct contains no irony or sarcasm misses the point. Sarcasm and irony rely on saying the opposite of what you really mean.

e.g. calling Abe Lincoln "one of the greatest Republican presidents of all time" vs calling Trump "one of the greatest Republican presidents of all time". Linguistically, they are as identical as the horned helmet vs the ship-shields. But one is clearly sincere while the other is clearly sarcastic. Context makes all the difference for sarcasm, and showing that a near identical statement lacks sarcasm isn't sufficient to disprove sarcasm.

No, you don't get it. They didn't sail the oceans with shields at the sides of their boats.

No, you don't get it. They didn't sail the oceans with shields at the sides of their boats.

Would have made more sense as a display when closer to shore anyways. No point in putting shields in a place where they might lose them when nobody is looking.
