Speaking of Pepe....
AHAHAHAHAHAHA THOSE POOR FUCKERS PAID THOUSANDS FOR THAT
Literally months out of college and I want all academia to collapse in on itself and die.
* Tiruin hugs her academia
...I've literally not seen that kind of thing even being taught seriously. Flying Dice, whaaa o_o
Is this a cultural or linguistic thing with that frog, in certain areas or...?
Because wow. That's very limited poor social learning if it's...made like that. (Although in the context of sociology, it's also contextual if that is actually, seriously, being used in the context of the area present. But wow, memes?)
I just wow .-.
It's what happens when self-important intellectuals who are totally net-illiterate take cable news seriously and try to talk about it in class. Could also be a little "Oh, this is topical and kids these days like the maymays, maybe this will keep their attention," if it's a gen-ed course trying to play catch-up with all the kids who were systematically failed by their high school education.
But mostly it's the same old "I am a third-tier specialist in field X, therefore I am perfectly and totally knowledgeable about everything." that crops up. Remember, professors are just as human and fallible as anyone else, and plenty promptly forget their critical thinking skills as soon as they stop needing to trot them out. To boot, if someone is teaching low-level undergrad courses most of the time, there's a reason, and that reason is: inexperience, incompetence, lack of ability/interest in more fulfilling work, retired/semi-retired and fucking around; pick one. The best people in any field are mostly going to be doing independent research, working with doctoral candidates, writing articles, going to conferences, &c., not sitting in a lecture hall with thirty to a hundred eighteen and nineteen year old business management/art history/women's studies/creative writing/undecided majors. That's what grad
slaves students and assistant professors are for.
