I'm also not very fond of Alan Moore in general outside of his influences in batman and maybe watchmen (altough I cant say I'm actualy a watchmen fan either), for a variety of reasons, but lets not go into that. In regards to the V for Vendetta movie, the non protagonist characters all seemed kinda cartoonish in their motivations and the way they acted, and I the main character was a bit too batman gambit-ey about his way of going about building popular support and fighting the corrupt government, and the population seems to magically start to follow his ideas.

I do however realize the whole thing is based on brittish society, meaning cartoonish might be the most realistic depiction possible :v

Isn't economic regulation a relatively recent development historically? There's people still alive who predate most of it (albeit not many of them).
Oh absolutely. Out of 4-5 thousand years of civilization we only had market regulation for 150-200 years (depending on what you mean, even Romans had economic regulation. But the "modern" way of doing it grew out of XIX century economic thought.) There are many places is Africa where it wasn't introduced until late 20th century (and perhaps not at all) So there's a lot of people who "predate" it as far as their society is concerned. I don't, however, think anyone American-born is in that category.

Well, I was thinking of people who are over 100 years old. There's not many of them, but they predate many product safety regulations, truth-in-advertising laws, child labor laws and workplace safety laws as well as FDR's reforms

Hey guys.
You know, this thread. The one we're in?
Kindly look at the title and then take your politics elsewhere. This really isn't the place. Politics are not funny.

And at any rate, right-wing politics is as much about being faith-based and socially authoritarian as it is about money.
Thank you. Conservative means "don't change shit that works". "There aught to be a law" is authoritarian. You won't believe how many people confuse the two.

Right-wing is conservative+authoritarian+faith based+money

American politics would be hilarious if I didn't have to live with the aftermath.

Depends on the politics.

And it's distance from you.

Kim Jong Un is pretty funny to me, he's a living joke, but probably not funny to the people who live under or near him.

Literally the best possible sorting algorithm around, in terms of how efficiently it can sort something.

My WTF is this one:
https://yougov.co.uk/profiler#/V_for_Vendetta/demographics
V for Vendetta is right-wing?
Probably the part where the re-wrote the politics of the main character to be in line with their viewer's existing beliefs?  Or maybe all that anti-government jazz, not sure if that's considered conservative in the UK but it certainly is over here.
Not it's not. Conservative by definition means "establishmentarian" (anyone who unironically says "Anti-dis-establishmentarian" is not worth talking to.), since they seek to "not fix what ain't broke". It's just that in the black-and-white (sorry, red-and-blue) system you have over there Libertarians line up with Republicans (self described "conservatives") better than with Democrats.
Fascism, by the way is only slightly to the right of National-Socialism, which is (economically, anyway) on the far-to-mid left (in fact, aside from the whole Final Solution thing, it was remarkably similar to Stalinism)

...I don't think that means what you think it means. "Establishmentarian" means "Adhering to, advocating, or relating to the principle of an established church.", I.E one who is against the separation of church and state.

TIL.
I didn't even know about the church connection. I meant #2 "of, relating to, or favoring a political or social establishment." (specifically, favoring)
The way it's listed in the dictionary though (with #1 being a less general case) it leads me to believe your usage is primary (or at least that it predates mine.) Go figure.
