Toady linked a French guide to DF on the DF page, and the guide's pretty good.

However, translating it into English gets some funny, mangled results.

Quote from: The guide
If you survived the internal breakdown of your cornea, even if you felt a little thrill of excitement watching this, you are cut out for Dwarf Fortress .
Quote from: The guide
Their life will be marked by the production of food, groundwater exploration, excessive alcohol consumption, trade with humans or elves, goblins fighting cons but against evil darkspawn back from the depths of your tunnel ...
Quote from: The author's translated description
I eat casual, arcade I shit, I sleep indie.
I thoroughly enjoyed that, thank you for sharing.  :D

If I didn't know about dwarf fortress, I probably couldn't tell what got mangled here and what is accurate.

I'm going to do the smart thing here and disengage. This isn't a hill I paticularly care to die on.

On The Moon Episode 9
I do quite like how a couple of years ago the comments section of the Christmas episode was filled with "Merry Tuesday!"

I was eating at a restaurant, they were playing a sports talk show thing, and the message came up

And I just thought: Why would Team Rocket want Harden? It only raises a Pokémon's defense by one level!

Got a copy of Waiting for Godot out of the library today.

I have a new favorite play.

You know when you don't get a joke for a while but then when you do it just makes it better? I just had that. I don't think that the Chuunibyuu animu girl is actually relevant to anything in any way though?

My elderly indoor cat escaped today, into some very terrible weather. Got 10 feet from the door, then bounced back inside.  Still chuckling - had no idea it could still leap that far that fast.  Maybe the lesson is learned, but that's doubtful.  Cats aren't terribly bright.  ::)

Correction: Some cats arent terribly bright.

When you have a cat that figures out how to get to food that bears cant get to, they cant be idiots.
