Reli was prone to certain strong emotions, and nervousness was one of them. She was afraid of failing her new teammates before she ever even got to know them. What if she couldn't hit anything her bow? Her hands were steady, though-Reli had spent her whole life facing down the things that made her afraid...
Usually when she was feeling skittish she chattered away, but Sacha was clearly annoyed by that. She guessed the woman wouldn't enjoy a rousing sea shanty, either.
She decided to show Beolas her special aquatic longbow. Relic never felt nervous talking to him.
It was a beautiful weapon, if only for it's exotic nature, a longbow seemingly with grips of worked red coral and a recurved body of driftwood and ship parts-there are looping carvings on the coral done in small, delicate images, with a steady hand-birds, fish, dolphins, sharks, sun, moon, ships. If he looks closely, he can see Relic herself as a younger girl, alongside her parents-who look like Elves, but with fish scales, gills, and flippers.
"...see the string? It's a sort of kelp-it's a bit tougher than a normal bowstring, and it keeps the arrow from shaking around too much...it helps my arrows fly straighter, though I have to keep it in salt water to keep it fresh. I don't usually fletch my arrows-they have these flaps, see? Helps the arrows swim through the water. That's why they don't have the barbs you usually see, I'd use those for fishing-these are just straight points...helps to hit your target...
...My da did the carvings, thought the bow itself I've had to replace nearly everything from since when I first got it." She says, looking at Beolas.
