I think the division set up by Civilian Life in 40K is a decent explanation: The "galactic culture" of the Imperium isn't sexist in general, though there may be byzantine laws about such things set up over the past ten thousand years scattered everywhere, while lower-tech planetary cultures are increasingly likely to be sexist as they degenerate into feral worlds. On the other hand, while a deathworlder might be expected to be always pregnant all the time because muh attrition, she's probably still one psycho killer next to anyone from another planet.

Yeah nah turns out it's just one order, the Order of the Martyred Lady - and they do indeed dye their hair white, and their order is the poster child of the Adeptus Sororitas as a whole same way Ultramarines are for Speshss Mahrines

Nah, we found out long time ago, we were wondering why other orders Sororitas are portrayed with white hair. It's obviously because artists are retarded, but that's still kind of like putting the Ultramarine toilet sign on Space Wolves and so on. The only sane explanation  that doesn't involve "FUCKING ARTISTIC LICENCE" is incredibly old grandmas or trans-order fangirls.

Wh40k is pretty non-sexist in general, but that does vary from planet to planet and so on. That kinda shows how great things could be if The Big E made his dream come true and how in general Wh40k sometimes has some pretty great places where you would totally want to live, at least until first Tyranid invasion or Chaos uprising. While, yeah, women can't end up choosing certain paths (like Space Marines) but then you also don't see men in Sororita orders, except some old confessors popping in from time to time. Orks don't really have gender, though they do seem quite mansculine but then... they are fucking walking mushrooms I'd expect no woman would want to be a walking mushroom. Eldar chicks are pretty privileged, Tau seem to be indeed very equalized and to Necrons (and Tyranids) gender doesn't matter anymore. There are also Dark Eldar sex slaves, but they don't seem to not rape men, so I guess everyone is equally... fucked.

Dude, I now feel vaguely insulted by you implying I might not know my Bolter Bitches lore, and by that you clearly haven't read what I actually wrote.
I know it's the actual scheme and it's not something new and we weren't discussing that, the point is that due to white hair SoB being so popular other orders are portrayed with them, which doesn't exactly make sense unless there is another reason. Also helmet SoBs being iconic? Dunno, they seem to be rarely portrayed with helmets on simply because it's the only part of their body you can really show, so it's the only part of their body that is obviously attractive (other than the tit armour but that doesn't really count).
...maybe they actually work that way, the ugly SoBs must wear helmets as a punishment for being ugly.

I always liked the nuns helmets, but they seem vastly overlooked in art. And it's absence... it's just a severe problem of Marines, Sororitas and other fanatical armed forces in Warhammer 40k, they always go "MY FACE IS MY SHIELD". It's suprising how well preserved the Sororitas faces are, I mean even if they don't get headshooted, the sharpnel and - especially considering Sisters vivid sexual connection with flamethrowers - fire should turn their faces into scarred mess after one battle and instead we get smooth pornstar supermodels... and even if they actually get scars they are magically so well placed and rare that they make them look even better

The Imperium isn't as sexist as middle age societies so I'm sure you could find at least some female religious figures in some planets out there. We're simply having selection bias because neither clergy nor females tend to be developed in stories.

For example, in the Rogue Trader rulebooks, I don't recall any gender restriction for the missionaries.

I'll never have the occasion to explore this anyway, because my group is very very not religious. They even blasted missionaries into dust, and that'll bite them in the ass very soon.

There's the Living Saints, for one thing.

After Goge Vandire, the newly appointed Ecclesiarch Sebastian Thor proclaimed the Decree Passive which forbade the Ecclesiarchy from having "men under arms". Under the literal interpretation of the decree the Adepta Sororitas, being female, were not obligated to disband. Thor, recognising the need for the Ecclesiarchy to have some kind of force and internal regulator, allowed them to remain even if the spirit of the decree was rather blatantly disregarded. This is why the Sisters of Battle exist. Any significant female religious figure is joining the Adeptas Sororitas through will or force, because due to the status, faith, and luck required in the endless bureaucracy within a theocratic oligarchy, it's kinda hard to recruit.
