I really didn't like Space Marine, though.
They did boltguns wrong.
How?

The bolter fires too fast. It's basically an assault rifle.
If that's the thing I'm thinking I'm remembering.

I'm not sure if the other bolters the marine in space marine uses are like, a thing for most space marines either. But I do think they did a good job of making bolts seem impactful, though, unlike in dawn of war where they're basically just huge machine guns. The bolter pistol is really great on space marine.

Yeah, I thought SM's representation of a bolter was one of the better I've seen. IIRC it's still single fire too, you can just mash the button quickly to achieve rapid fire. The SFX might have been good or not good depending on your preferences, the search for the perfection bolter sound continues.

About the only thing I didn't like about SM were the executions to regain health. It was super gamey and basically wrecked the flow of gameplay for me (in addition to you being fully vulnerable while it happens, invalidating the health regen it gave.)

SM wasn't perfect by any means, but it was a step in a better direction compared to Storm of Vengeance and a good number of the el cheapo mobile 40k titles that have come after.

But bolters can be fired on automatic.
At the least, they normally are at least shown with burst fire, which means they should be capable of automatic fire.

I imagine that with the power of a bolter, however, it's not normally needed.

Storm bolters are pretty much meant to be full auto bolter things, but regular bolters I'm not so sure of.Maybe all regular bolters are semi automatic rifle things :v

At most bolters would have a burst fire selector. Storm bolters are really just two bolters taped together with their firing intertwined. Even Heavy Bolters, that fire full auto, aren't like, Assault Cannon levels of full auto. I think the propellant-based shells can't really be fired in that volume.

1) They have very little of the primarchs genetic material and all of it belongs to the space marines that worship the primarchs as progenitors.

2) Clones tend to mutate horribly or degenerate. Even Fabius Bile, the greatest scientist of all marines couldn't clone Horus without the results being sickly and simple minded.

3) The primarchs genetic material was inherently unstable since they were partially imbued with power the Emperor stole from the gods of chaos.

4) Cloning a whole person is usually considered a form of heresy. Cloning is usually only used to grow servitor bodies and organic limbs for people who don't want bionics.

Also the Primarchs were all partially warp beings, explaining how they were so haxx.

Holy cow!

I just realized something...

A 40k Warhammer MMO would probably force the creators to retcon the whole No Women thing (which to admit is just their excuse for not making female marine models... which in all fairness is expensive)
