For productivity, produce glass serrated disks. Serrated disks are required in limitless quantities for any good fort to use as ammo.

I just had a vision of my marksdwarves launching serrated disks out of crossbows, and it was glorious.

I must mod this in.

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

or make puppies sentient =P
(which they ARE in real life, of course. Just in game for some reason, they are incapable of learning or thought, I guess).

Dwarf fortress in 50 words: You start with seven alcoholic, manic-depressive dwarves. You build a fortress in the wilderness where EVERYTHING tries to kill you, including your own dwarves. Usually, your chief imports are immigrants, beer, and optimism. Your chief exports are misery, limestone violins, forest fires, elf tallow soap, and carved kitten bone.

Sounds fine. I think Remuthra was talking about minecart cannons, though, which are also pretty gnarly, although I've never done anything with minecarts besides QSP'ing, so I don't feel like that's a great option right now. (Also, I don't have magma access yet.)

Eh... I suppose. I like the goblin idea a little more. It leaves me room to make +goblin skull totems+ and +goblin bone bolts+.

What would it be like to live in a world that was copy/pasted? Would we even notice? If not, how many times have we switched celestial harddrives or whatever?

Yes, although I would love to give dwarves handheld disk launchers as well. Serrated disks :D.

Do remember that dwarves who are in a squad and have a training room assigned to that squad will spend their idle time doing individual combat drills, instead of No Jobbing in a common area.
