That special powder did sound like a lot of fun...but Gethron's predicament came from a powder explosion, don't forget! He grumbled and tried to make himself sound skeptical.

"Hrm. Let me test a small sample first, here in your lab. Don't wanna take this stuff into battle and discover that it don't even burn."

"Why, of course my good friend! I wouldn't expect anything less. I assure you, this powder definitely burns, and can even be persuaded to make all kind of colourful shapes... it's all in the shot, with the right modifications. Follow me, this way". He walks into his shop ahead of you.

The building is a mess of contraptions, some are obvious alchemical equipment, glass pipes, jars. Others are unrecognizable gadgets, with no clear indication of their function. A small tinkering table can be seen on the side, and schematics for all kinds of bombards and cannons hang from the walls. A few scale models of these guns have been built and are littering the place.

He picks up a small brass model of an ornate cannon, and carefully loads it with some powder from a vial. The powder is a mixture of glittering and dark grains and it exudes some sort of aura that makes your warped eye itch. He places a pistol shot in the cannon and pushes it inside with a ramrod, then sets it on a table clamp pointing it at a scorched bullseye painted on the wall. He primes the cannon and gives you a match.

"There you go! I'm sure you'll be satisfied with it! Perfectly safe."

Before you can light it, he snugs inside a cupboard, locking it from the inside (somehow).

Gethron examines the cupboard doors, specifically how they open. Is there a doorknob or just a couple of handles or what?

It's a fairly standard cupboard, the lock has just been sloppily reversed. It looks flimsy and doesn't seem like it would protect much from anything other than the occasional singed eyebrow or skin burn, certainly not an explosion, other than provide an extra supply of splinters.

"I'm on the trail of some money, darling, but I need your help. There was a man at the bar here; he looked at one of the officers while we were talking with the merchant captain, and I could tell he was up to something sketchy." Wade briefly describes the man. "So do you know anything about him or noticed where he was going?"

((Doesn't answer my question, Sergius. I want to know if there's a knob or handles or what on the cupboard. And if its a single or double door.))

"I wasn't paying a lot of attention to the bar, to be honest. You may have better luck with Herb over there" she says pointing at the bartender, "or you'll have to ask around."

With a wry grin, Gethron found a length of wire and approached the cupboard. He said out loud in a sort-of-mutter "Damn stuff won't stay lit. Maybe if I pour a little space whale oil on it..."

He wound the wire around and through the loops on the handles, tying the cupboard shut.

"Ah, here's the oil!"

Grabbing a flask of the thick liquid, he popped the cork and dribbled a good amount of it in front of the cupboard door, letting the distinctive foul smell fill the room.
"Better sit tight in there! I poured a whole bottle of the stuff on that special powder of yours and I'm hoping that's enough!" he shouted towards the cupboard in a cheerful tone.

With the armorer safely tucked away, Gethron began loading a cart with as much powder and shot as it could carry. He also added a barrel of the "special" powder, just in case it really was useful.

Finally, he took a long match and touched the lit end to the small pile of special powder the armorer had prepared.

"That guy? Eh, yeah he's been here a couple of times. He's a captain of some ship, Cloud of Shrimps or something, can't remember. He didn't speak much, I don't think he even drinks any alcohol. I'm sure he thinks he's all sneaky and mysterious with all that black leather but to me he stands out like a sore thumb. I would say he's up to no good but that's not unusual around these parts, with all the damn pirates. Am I right?"
