I just always love those big defensive missions in games that your not meant to survive and that look on peoples faces when you do.

Like you've just bitch slapped them with a wet fish.

Totally pair us up with the Vespin. They're basically drop troopers anyway.

I love the smell of Heresy in the morning.

Especially when that Heresy is kicking your ass, one planet at a time.

FOR THE EMPIRE!

Sidenote: Tau hate last stands. Doesn't mean they can't be forced into them, or they won't use their less-important auxiliaries for them if necessary.

I'm a Tau-fanboy. I know exactly how dickish we can be.

Vespin

Spoiler: Heresy? (click to show/hide)

Eldar are worse than Tau, though.

There are games where you survive huge waves of enemy assaults, grinning into the face of death and emerging alive and victorious, standing triumphantly over your enemies.

A game with Imperial Guardsmen... is probably not one of them.

But that's half the fun. Unless we play as Kaskrin, this game will be one glorious meatgrinder.

Unless you're Gue'vesa'la. :p

Hammerheads help. So do Pulse Rifles.

I want to know if they have stats for fighting Tau, too. If we can't fight for the Tau, can we at least fight against them? It'd be nice to have a game where we actually want to get up close and personal with the enemy, since we can beat the shit out of them.

No no no no no. No Tau.

I am not having a sniper fight with freaking Tau lol we fight them and I'm shooting myself in the foot and staying home. Tau are awesome as long as they're not pointing pulse guns at you.

Hammerheads help. So do Pulse Rifles.
Mostly what helps is fighting foes that are hilariously simple in comparison. Just imagine what would happen to a Tau force that went up against Chaos with access to Scrapcode.

That's why it wouldn't be a sniper fight. We're a drop regiment. We drop on them, start hitting them in the face, flee from Broadsides, and go home.

FTFY

Tau are ever so naive, even if the warp doesn't like having anything to do with them~

We could be the drop regiment that drops on a planet sized ship and fight our way through until we find/blow up the ships generators allowing reinforcements, and be awarded for our bravery while in the face of huge odds...or be branded as heretics for surviving the impossible.

I'm not very knowledgeable on 40k and your nerdines makes me feel inferior to you and community college teachers.

You don't have to be a nerd to realize that some 500 troops assaulting something larger than the death star have less than zero chance. 5 million troops have no chance. You're basically talking about assaulting a Hive fleet here, man. Not a Hive Splinter Fleet, but a full on tendril of the Hivemind or something.

No, you're talking about attacking the World Engine. An entire Astartes chapter landed on that. None of them survived.

Asterters?

Are those the space marine dudes?

Also...can the rules bend? I mean we ARE a tide of Soviet conscripts with laser guns and grenades and possible air support...you just have to believe.

Okay what about if we dropped on the death star ship with a tactical nuke and rigged it to blow as we flew away?

So I've taken the liberty to make my own regiment creation ideas. Quick question though - are you guys using additional resources? Cause I made mine using the Only War Core rulebook, not the other one.

Anyways, One's a light reg. and the others a Drop Trooper motif, but both are similar, they're just different types of missions and equipment.

And lastly, I made my character. His gear is based of the regulation gear issued to all Guardsmen regardless of regiment, and then his class gear. I haven't applied regimental stuff to him yet, so I can adapt if mine aren't accepted.

Spoiler: Darrien Ariovistus (click to show/hide)

I want my guy's backstory to be not well known, so maybe people have to make an Common Lore (Imperium) check or somesuch, or an intelligence check, and then the GM with supply details according to their success. If they want to know.
