The other races used to know of gnomes, but the knowledge has since passed into legend. Gnomes are of debated existence among the humans and orcs. The dwarves generally accept their existence, but they do not come above ground very often, so they don't see other forms of life besides that in their agricultural facilities underground.
I retain my previous question.

Basically this.

Much of history was lost when the Spiders appeared and began killing.

There is no such thing as group of most powerful gods, the power levels change rapidly, reacting to an unseen current of power.

((No question so I'll just add on to the last one))

While the gods jostle for power, mortal races usually accept a few gods as the most powerful from their perspective. Orcs and Humans consider 'The Lady of the Isles', an entity said to have created the island chains, and 'The Rune Father'*, an entity said to have provided the gift of runework to mortals to be the most important. Dwarves prefer to worship nature itself and the spirits around them than gods they cannot see. Gnomes recognise the existence of gods but don't worship them due to a belief that the creator of the gnomes, a nameless deity, is the only entity worthy of of favour. This is compounded by the fact that the creator is believed to be within all gnomes and no longer exists as a sapient being.

*The Rune Father is simply the amalgamated memories of the elves who taught the orcs and humans the craft. It is not a true god...yet.
*Rune Father/Lady of the Isles is only a title of the god/godess and the name differs between groups.

How has the SpiderMind not discovered the dwarven settlements and destroyed them considering it has control over the whole continent?

Because the Spidermind has an irrational fear of the dark and the underground.
What are the plans of the spidermind to find another means of feeding? If any.

The SpiderMind plans to usurp the spheres of various gods (Fear, Spiders, Earth, etc.) and then reroute the divine energies from these sources to feed his ever growing hordes.

If the old death god/SpiderMind is now associated with spiders, does the god of spiders now have a rivalry with the SpiderMind?

Yes, although it is a very playful rivalry that involves pillowfights and sleepovers.

Why in the world did the Spidermind and the Spider God get this kind of relationship?

(I took that as metaphorical sleepovers and pillow fights)
They don't have a bitter rivalry because they both hope mostly for the well beings of the spiders. But they both secretly (unknown to the other) attempt to outdo the other in association with spiders.

(oh forgot a question)
Do any of the humans have any plans of attempting to regain the mainland?

No, they gave that up generations ago, although sometimes expedition groups are formed, they rarely come back.

(I meant the pillows fights and sleepovers literally.)

The strangest creature in the land is considered by the humans to be the 13-legged Grofeh-crab, to the orcs, the squelchy and oozy Prognobber, and the gnomes consider anything they don't know enough about to hold forth on for hours strange. It is unknown what the dwarves consider strange, as they are not prone to talking about this subject, and the spiders don't consider any creature strange, provided it has a soul.

Describe the Prognobber in greater detail.

The prognobber is an 11 foot tall invertabrate which resemble a giant bag of human skin with pus leaking holes which emit noxious fumes. It also eats through these holes. It has 6 hearts, 2 livers, 12 stomachs, 4 lungs, and 1 brain the size of a peanut.

Due to the vast size of the continent, the climate can range from being extremely cold to extremely hot; the deep interior, due to a lack of river systems, is mainly desert and rugged plains. The southern parts of the continent are colder due to less heat reaching the area while the rest of the continent varies.

Why have the gnomes not expanded into the rest of the continent?

Because there isn't enough population growth for the gnomes to need to. Therefore they don't see a reason to expand, so they don't.
Why isn't there population growth?

Because the Gnomes die just as often as they are born. Often from industrial accidents.

Why do the Gnomes love rambling?

Because they believe that if something is not worth saying in its entirety then it is not worth saying at all.

What is the climate of the southern islands like?
