Cooperative Worldbuilding Game
« on: June 09, 2014, 10:48:09 pm »

This game is simple. The goal is to create an interesting original world. Each person answers a question about the world posed by the last person, and asks their own question or group of related questions. Questions should not introduce new elements into a world, only answers should. For example, "There are five alien species in close contact with this setting. WHat are they?" is a bad question. It should instead be "Are there any alien species in close contact with this planet? If so, what are they?".

I'll go ahead and ask the first question: Are there humans in this setting? If so, what level of societal development and population density are they at?

Humans are present in the setting. However they are nomadic peoples that are in a world war II technology era and there are around 17 million of them.

Is the area that the Humans traverse an island or continent? If so how large is it?

The Humans traverse a group of islands just off the coast of a greater landmass. They travel using simple boats sometimes powered by motor.

Why is it that the Humans don't inhabit the continent?

The humans don't inhabit the continent because it is overrun by malevolent half-spider half-human beasts that feed on souls.

Is there precipitation on this world? If so, what does it taste like?

The continent is inhabited by xenophobic dragons with bulletproof scales. The rain tastes like slightly dirty water.

nomadic peoples that are in a world war II technology era
How the hell did this happen? Pretty much any technology more advanced than stone tools requires enough settlement to, you know, have metalsmithing shops and stuff. And that's not getting into how a society can develop such advanced technology without the other social developments that come with settlements, like agriculture and the resultant food surpluses and high population densities.

The human peoples were driven off the continent by the half-spider half-human beasts that feed on souls and they took the last of their population and technology along with them onto the islands. ((More reasons will come later, let's just enjoy the ride))

Do the humans have contact with other species other than the half-spider half-human beasts? If so do they trade with one another?

Orcs intermingle with the humans, living on the islands as well as crossing the continent via a fleet of blimps and other aircraft. Orcish traders usually supply humans (and other orcish nomads) with resources from the continent found on their journeys.

Are the half-spider half-human beasts that feed on souls sapient? If so, what is their level of technology?

No, they are not sapient as individuals, they are one massive superintelligent hivemind, although the humans don't know this and think they are just beasts. And they lack technology, why would they need it?

In this world, there is a god(dess) for just about everything, from abstract concepts, to Creation.

What other species are present on this world?

Their is only one other species present in the world besides humans, orcs, and Half-spider half-human beasts. They are dwarfs who live underground on the continent.

Can any of the races use magic? If so what kind of magic do they use?

Yes. The magic varies between the species. The dwarves use the magic of the earth and fire. The humans use the magic of the air and seas, the orcs use the magic of life and nature, and the spiders use the magic of death and darkness.

What was the worst disaster that ever happened to this world and what scars did it leave upon the land?

Error! A disaster has never occurred in this world! The worst event that took place was when little Timmy dropped his fishing rod into the ocean!

Does magic come from a specific source? If so, what is it?

Magic comes from where its aspect can be found in nature.

Fire comes from fire and magma, water from the sea.

Life from bountiful life, death from decay and rot.

Why are the orcs and humans so peaceful with one another? What made them so?

Generations of surviving together against the spider/human beasts has created a bond of friendship between the orcs and the humans.

Was their any great human nations before the spider/human beasts forced them off the mainland.

Nay, in fact, the spider/human beasts have always been on the mainland.

Are there sillier forms of magic in this world? If so, what are they?
