Good update.  Also, I made another masterpiece? I'm like a masterpiece making machine in my post-overseer life.
Out of curiosity are the goblins bodies just lying around? To me this area was idyllic with all of the different animals roaming around and birds flying over the waterfall.  I think its funny we're kind of trashing it.

Also, remember the population cap I don't think we want to be dealing with migrant wave after migrant wave.  And for Gnorm and escondida I will set up a new thread for each of your timelines to post in.

I think what happened with all the children was I had a higher child cap originally but by the time I lowered it a bunch of dwarves were already pregnant. My population cap was set to 100 for all but the first bit in Spring where it was even lower.

Ah, excellent timing! Today was my Friday, so I should be able to get some dorfing done this weekend. If anybody wants a dorf named after them in fort B, post in the new thread.

For reference this is what the main part of the fortress looks like before the split.

Top Z Level
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

2nd Z Level
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

My character had a mental breakdown after being an overseer and it looks like is pretty much a weird shut in with a pile of dead animal skulls in her room.  Although she's ecstatic about it, so I guess that's pretty cool.

Also:
While breaching magma for temporary furnaces we lost a highly skilled miner.

Do you mean to say that a dwarf was burned alive from the magma?!

Yep. I was relatively sure it was going to happen but I had a facepalm moment and didn't use an unskilled dwarf. I also didn't feel like savescumming to experiment with various breaching methods so I just went ahead and did it.

He was slabbed. I didn't slab a child that was snatched though, not sure whether it would be necessary.

Nah, unlike fortress overseers, goblins treat children well, so a snatched child is likely to safely grow to adulthood. You know, unless they get murdered in a random fight or something...but hey, that happens in fortresses, too! Sure, they'll be barbarous murderers when they grow up, but at least they aren't among the dead-eyed members of the dwarven military with their infamous thousand-yard stares.

I choose my avatar based on diagnosing skill, and there was a moment where I thought she was a vampire. Had that been the case I would have buried the lead just for the FUN of it.

I'll cross-post this in timeline B, but it seems I have a succession game related curse lately and start having things I need to do only when it's my turn to rule a succession fort (and other assorted unluckiness). Sorry, folks; I'm going to have to bow out.

My turn is finished, and the save is up. My recommendation, however, would be to wait until the other timeline has had its first turn completed before continuing, to better keep track of things.

Hopefully. I just remembered about it today, so timeline A will be updated soon.

I think we all got a little distracted by the new version.  I'll see if itg wants to continue for Timeline B, he was like 2/3rds the way through.
