If we're going on realism, we shouldn't have mechs.

That aside, it'd be rather pointless: it's not like they're going to run out very often with forty shots.

Aye, but what's the caliber on that? The caliber on these is some 10mm, not 10cm.

Donjon is pretty awesome, I know this to be true.

Also, that's what I was saying, Dice; I think they're needles(and not two meters long, but maybe one), but still, unless it's bursts, 25 shots isn't much.

Giglamesh, actually, if you can't resupply between every battle, forty shots isn't much, since misses are very, very common.

And logical fallacy; we can want realism for everything surrounding the basic premise of the game while stille wanting the basic premise of the game to stay the same.

How would those run out so fast? I mean, unless I am fighting for weeks straight with no stopping for replacements, that shouldn't happen.

I really don't buy the whole '1 cm ball bearing' thing as ammo for a gauss cannon. Just saying.

A. No aerodynamics; you need what is effectively a tungsten needle for it to survive the speeds it's going at and hit the target
B. Inefficient armor penetration; again, a needle is far better; since you don't need to worry about relative mass(since the more mass there is, the more mass is being pulled by the magnet) for any reason beyond recoil(not a negligible consideration, granted), I'm thinking they're more like 20-30 cm long needle-shaped projectiles.
C. Pellets are dumb. :p
Pellets work pretty well for bullets. Which are also aerodynamic and pierce armor pretty well. It doesn't take a great deal of modification for a ball bearing to become a good bullet.

Really? You think a round ball is better for being accurate and penetrating than a bullet-shape?
And would you rather have a 1/2 oz. piece of metal flying at your opponent at mach 7, or a 28 oz. sharpened piece of metal flying at your opponent at mach 7?
