Simple and honestly, I found this random mech generator thingy, and considering I had still a basic mech framework lying around, I have combined the two. There might be some minor things left to do to adapt the 2, but I'll bet it'll work out.

Game Thread

Illion: Near Future Mech RPG


Will be explained in more detail at game start, so that I can incorporate player backstories into one somewhat coherent system.

After the invention of FTL technology, humanity started building it's first starships. Only a dozen massive starliners have ever been build, and as the voyage still takes years for the largest amongst them, only a few colonies have ever been founded. Life at the fringe is hard, but still many left the Solar system, either voluntarily, or not.

The game is set in one of humanities more advanced colonies.  A political crisis on Earth, and bad living situations in the colony, have led to it declaring it's independence, and resulted in it trying to capture one of the massive star liners for it's own. The game starts during this battle, and the immediate aftermath.

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

EDIT:
Rolls, part 1
Rolls, part 2 (uhhh, I actually rolled Esoteric Supercharge Source...what do?!?)
Rolls, part 3 (oh come on, a second natural 100?!?)
Rolls, part 4 (This is fucking ridiculous)
Rolls, part 5 (WTF?!?)
Rolls, part 6 (took long enough. Jeezus)
Rolls, part 7 (rerolled Esoteric Supercharge Source, second was a might-as-well see-what-comes-up-reroll of Autoloader. It didn't help)
So, I'm gonna stop listing the rolls here, because they get ridiculous for a while. I rolled once for part 8, got Casette Autoloader. Once for part 9, got Enlarged Ammo Storage, wasn't sure if it applied since Heavy Gauss Cannons say NA for ammo. I'll take it, I think, though. But then I remembered I needed to roll for the extra again. So I went back and did two rolls, calling it part 8, and got Field-Improved and Esoteric Supercharge. Again. Tried again, rolled twice for part 10, and got Field Improved and Chemical Toilet, or Esoteric Supercharge and CAGS, depending on how you looked at it. I don't remember which I had said would be first. But at this point, the number of bloody results I've got, I'm just gonna choose, if that's alright.

I /think/ that that's all right. I'm actually sort of frightened by the sorts of monstrosities that that roll-sheet could create. Also this thing looks pretty stupid, so I doubt I'm going to get m/any personal traits. At least it isn't running on diesel, firing round-nosed lead, and making tea. On that note, I'm suddenly craving mechs with WWI flavor....

e: Did some tidying up, I think that's all, apart from allocating whatever character traits I might get.

Name: Jason Boyd
Appearance: A tall, old man with graying hair. His healthier than most people his age, but his isn't as strong looking as younger folks.
Biography: He was part of the military before they started to send FTL ships to the stars, but he was more than happy to join the fleets so he could see this marvel of technology in action. Before taking to the stars he was part of the Air Force, so flying wasn't a brand new concept to him, but flying star ships was still a new experience to him.

Skills:
    - Reflexes: 11
    - Piloting: 15
    - Engineering: 4
    - Targeting: 15
    - Communications: 15

Traits: (Between 1-4. Specific bonuses for your character. Serves as a balancing mechanism for your mech, so expect less if you have a really good one.)
   -Old- Hes an older man, so he frailer and more susceptible to illness than others.

Posture: Octopedel Pillar Erect
Engine: Nuclear
Armor: Titanium/Tungsten Alloy
Additional Defenses: Softkill ECM APS

You don't have to roll, though min maxing is not going to work.

Not like I can check if you don't so take that as me allowing you to tweak the results.

Ebbor10, I rolled it, and I need advice on what to do. Because that was fucking ridiculous, and I don't think I can have a chain autoloader and an autoloader on the same gun.

Also, I think I actually managed to roll esoteric power source which you don't allow. Just reroll that?

EDIT:

Also, can I reroll Ergonomic Seating and the autoloader/chain autoloader results?

I mean...ergonomic seating? In a scout mech? Wtf.

Character done. No clue what to do about Traits though. They seem rather vague and nebulous right now.
