What systems are nearby a who owns them? See if we have, can get, or can purchase this information. Don't want to stick our hands in a hornet's nest by accident.

Deciding to pick up more information before leaving the station, Mancomb heads to the nearest tavern. Upon reaching it, he enters to find the place almost completely deserted. Only one table is occupied by a pair of passed out K'Keni and then there is a lone bartender. Taking a seat, Mancomb begins to talk.
Hello. How does the day find you?
What do want? I'm busy.
I see that.
Get on with it.
I need information about the surrounding systems.
Gonna cost you.
How does 25 sound?
Like two day's work. What do you want to know?
Who controls the nearby systems? And this one, for that matter.
K'Keni has this one, and two more. Toida and Vespae. There's one that the Etran control, Atargatis. I hear it's one of their last major production facilities. There's also two more that have come under L'Vasi and Minge control, respectively. The Minge one is called Kui Xiu, if I remember correctly. I forget the name of the L'Vasi system, sorry.
Thank you, here's the money.
The K'Ken smiles and wishes you well.
Returning to the ship reveals that all supplies have been loaded aboard without any hitches, and that nearly the entire crew have finished their daily meal.
What will Mancomb do?

The scientists and engineers have completed their study of Improved Weapons Cooling, and are now idle. They also mention that, using some of the research gained here, get a jump on Improved Reactor Cooling.

Improving each of the weapon's cooling systems will cost 20 scrap and take 100 engineering points. You can divide up the engineers to work on the various projects separately, but at a slightly lowered efficiency due to them not completely working together.

Improve the Fore 1 AF Battery's cooling systems
Have the scientists start working on designs for some form of ship-based weapon like the AF Batteries.
Look for some work along the lines of delivery or salvage to earn us some money.

Minge...? hahaha! Oh dear. That's slang in these parts.

Head to the planet.

Thank you, randomly generated alien names.

Heading to the planet is not possible, unless high enough clearance given by a ranking official of the planet grants it or if your ship is damaged enough and can't be suitably repaired in orbit. And only some species and/or planets will adhere to that.

Mancomb will get wickedly drunk, as befits a terrifying pirate captain like himself!

Before they can set out, Mancomb sends a signal requesting all offers of work along the lines of shipping or salvage. He receives the following offers:

Mancomb has the technicians begin [156] and finish improving the Fore 1 AF battery's cooling system.
He then sets the scientists to work on recreating the basic AS battery blueprint. [31]

Order the construction of 2 Combat Drones.
Search the station for basic salvaging gear.
Take Salvage Job 1
Scientists continue current work.
Have all the fighters and combat drones prepared for when we head out to do the salvage job, never know when danger might show up.

Salvage job two looks pretty good also cause we can salvage the ship. And they don't know exactly how much ore was in it so we could skim some off the top.

I'm tempted with shipment job 3 also. That blueprint..

The Shipment does sound quite dangerous, but that schematic is quite juicy..

Vote Shipment 3. Need more babby fighters!

They both seem kinda dangerous, usually retrieval missions with high quality stuff, and secrety stuff tend to end badly.
