Lets go meet the Cogboy, and show him the FLMR we didn't keep, lets Ask him if it's from a specific forge world as they have been known to keep and produce STC's and to not share the information.

(also you didn't update our character sheet with the rifle.)

Lets track down this Cog.
Track 'em down.

As in the tattoo, the supposed gang that has said tattoo, the guy making the weapons, or the tech-priest in the Mechancius Spire the woman made a meeting with?

How's about we focus before splitting our forces (so they can be easily killed)?
Or rather, focus on the source--focus on the guy making the weapons is my vote, secondary being the tech-priest.
...
Actually, let's get to that tech-priest first.
Supposedly he would help us with this, and probably have information on the xenos taking sanctuary on this planet.

We can't find much about those cogs given the lacking knowledge from the more...civilized less-destitute people, so its supposedly an underworld emblem or sign of the hive...people.

So let's firstly focus on our mission. Anything else is secondary (like for one, this thought believes that those with said symbol are just tiny lackeys. Who would ignore firing on the Inquisitor but under orders?)

Sure, +1. Sounds more organized.

"If that's so then I'll be heading to the Mechanicus Spire right away Astin, if you would please call ahead of me and inform them to get my escort ready to leave immediately so I can be on my way. Maybe this Logis Yulith can shed some light on what we're dealing with here ..."

The Senior Armsman nods as you push yourself up from the chair, and make your way down through several floors of the garrison to come out of an elevator at the bottom floor once more. You can already see your convoy forming up not far away, and a small smile crosses your face at how quickly they'd managed to prepare for your arrival even with the severe mixture of forces from different areas which would normally slow a group's action through caution of the newcomers. Its not long before the convoy is on its way with you finding yourself in a transport with your Crimson Son armsmen and Eomann, not long now and you'd be face to face with the man who could hold the answers you need to actually making some headway here on this planet ...

--Later at the Mechanicus Spire in the Entry Hall--

Your trip to the Mechanicus Spire is a long one and you find yourself drifting in, and out of sleep as your convoy makes its way through the mountain hive through one hab area to the next all looking the same even with the bouts of graffiti drawn across most of them. Like the few other hives you have seen in your lifetime so far this one was just as sprawling, and mildly depressing as the rest with a new spin to it in the form of the city being carved from the mountains it rests on like some colossal statue. Most of the day passes before you arrive at the Mechanicus Spire, a short spire cut off from the rest of the hive from a half natural, and half manmade bridge stretching the mountain peak the spire rests on to the main hive city itself though unlike most of the bridges you've seen so far this one is well guarded.

Your convoy is stopped by a squat plastcrete gatehouse adorned with two towers that are topped with gun emplacements that are manned by weather beaten servitors slaved to the very weapons they are meant to use in times of need. The gates are drawn open as you draw near, and two dozen weapon servitors come spewing out of the gate followed by a short, stooped figure whose body appears bent forward under the weight of the pair of mechadendrites1 sprouting from his back. You clamber out of your APC followed only by Eomann, and make for the tech-priest with the strange rifle clutched under your arm hoping that this meeting would give you an answer, even one would do ...

"Welcome Inquisitor Maive Imperatrice, and honored Deathwatch Marine Eomann, Logis Yulith has been expecting you though before we go to meet him I must ask that you forgive any impatience or slight undercuts he might give you. Logis Yulith has been almost entirely machine for any decades now and can no longer think in anything other than a logical capacity, human emotions have long since left him. If you would please follow me this way, your escort will be searched and then housed in the safety of our motor pool until you take your leave, sorry for the inconvenience but none are allowed within the Spire under the Logis' orders."

You nod to the tech-priest, and follow after him as he leads you through the gates and the courtyard beyond which is pretty much empty of anything except for a few lifts that lead, oddly enough, to the bottom of the bridge and a large garage like structure which you take to be the motor pool. After you cross through the courtyard you make your way up a short flight of steps, and through the main door into the spire which is a massive thing with the emblem of the Mechanicus set into it and masterfully detailed though everything up to now pale's in comparison to the sight you see beyond that door. The entry hall turns out to be a massive thing with the ceiling several dozen feet above your head shrouded in a semi darkness that is broken by lights laid out in a symmetrical pattern to reveal a massive web of clockworks, pipes, and wires that are placed so masterfully that they themselves create mechanical tapestries.

You see images of important discoveries, detailed images of Mechanicus heroes, and even images of some long forgotten battles that the Mechanicus took part in though above them all one image sticks out the most. In the center of this lies an image of an lone Knight charging headlong at a horde of orks to protect what appears to be a Mechanicus temple, the details of the Knight are so exquisite and rich that you find yourself absorbed in the picture. You snap back to the present as a purely mechanical voice speaks,

"I see you have observed the visage of Religan, he was a Knight Errant sent here to ensure the safety of those tech-priests who founded this temple to the Machine God and when an Ork horde came to take this planet he fought all of them alone. Record state that though Religan ultimately failed in stopping the Orks he killed seventy-five thousand orks, and four-hundred and twenty ork warmachines which earned him his central place in the machine tapestry where he could be remembered as a loyal servant and a hero of the Mechanicus.

Lessons in history are not what you came here for though, and I have much to see to Inquisitor so let us get this underway and finished quickly, I am Logis Yulith the leader of this system's Mechanicus. I understand you have a weapon you wish me to examine?"

You nod and pull the rifle from underneath your arm as you examine the strange creature before you, not a bit of human flesh is visible and all you can see is replaced by bionic replacements while roughly a dozen mechadendrites sprout from the severely stooped machine before you. You hand him the rifle and several of his mechadendrites move forward with tools buzzing to life, and a low whir as his cybernetic eyes seem to adjust to examine the details of the weapon better. The Logis takes the weapon apart before your very eyes delegating the disassembled part to several servitors following him as he seems to chant in an endless stream of binary, you are forced to wait several minutes before the process is complete and the Logis spews more binary at the servitors which they respond to by walking away with the parts still in hand. Turning back to you the Logis speaks,

"The creator of this weapon did not care for the machine spirit of the weapon, they forced much agony upon the spirit and now it nears its deathbed due to the heretic who forged it so carelessly. However my observations, and conversations with the machine spirit have given some evidence as to who might have been able to carry out such creation, the weapon bears the mark of a tech-priest of the Mechanicus I must report though it most certainly did not come from this spire so the likelihood of a rogue tech-priest or one trained by such is high. There is little more I can give other than that the materials are definitely from within this fledgling hive."

Is there anything else you wish to ask the Logis or perhaps your investigations would be better served elsewhere?
