Can i have some clarification? Is alien hive mind like all worker soldier are connected and control by queen so each ant is just extension of the queen and if the queen die they all go brain dead
Or is it like all ant just report to the queen and rely on her for tatical planning and make decision in the field themselves?

The Aliens do not entirely rely on the queen, but they are, except for a few outliers, stupid, and can not make tactical decisions on their own.
