Union of Static Self-Representations

Due to the recent intensifying of the userpics all over the subforums, I now declare The Union of Static Avatar Holders open in order to protect our independence of any temporary temptations and to secure our right of using static pictures as our avatars.

We, the Union, oppose ourselves to descanites, who dwell there, for their corruption of fair static avatars has gone too far.

Me be the first participant.

As a person with pretty severe photosensitivity, I'd like to say thanks to my fellow static avatar holders. I've had to download third party programs for my browser so that I can "stop" the animated ones, and unfortunately they can only work by removing the images from the page entirely. Still, this is far better than the constant headaches and upsets I used to get before I found a way to block them. I used to have to hold my hand or a piece of paper in front of the screen just to stop them from triggering meltdowns. : (

Nope.

Static avatars are fun, moving thingies are annoying, or even dangerous.

Also, Sappho, you can just disable avatars in the Look and Layout part of your profile settings.

Despite my coincidental intensity, I, too, support the non-animated avatars. Much easier on the eyes, even discounting photosensitivity (can't say I've had that experience, but it sounds like the current trend would be friggin' awful for you, Sappho).
