I think most understood the joke, it's just that it still seemed like a genuine command.

Inquire with Toel'ix as to methods through which you might come into possession of additional lowborn fit for command

+1. But instead ask how we can attract more lowborn to live here. Another thing i want to know is does the game continue with our kids after we die

So any ideas on how to get more people?

free housing, word of mouth / competent command... that would be my main ideas.

Free housing speaks for itself, but we only have ten people, and we still need enough of them fishing to get food. I am not sure how viable this is atm. Maybe later on.

If we display our capabilities as a competent ruler, people will be more inclined to follow us. Still, this is more of a gradual thing.

Actually, how about we search for other resources that we can use? If we - as example - are able to trace metal, we can get some craftsmen over with the promise of stable work and reduced taxes. As soon as we have an industry going on, others who would profit from being here will flock to us on their own. Thus;

Explore our land for further resources.

Of course, asking Toel'ix is also a good idea; +1

I did say this already. Provide jobs and money to be made an people will come, additionally we could have a trip up the river to the Lord's city. There we can advertise a bit with word of mouth.

I already talked about this, none of our low born will know about geology and getting someone who DOES know will mean paying them. Of which we have no money.

Ok one if we are talking about the same thing then that means we agree with you and two you would think that they would know how to identify some resources    they do live of the land don't they plus the former trader might be able to even if the lowborn can't.

Year 1, June
It's getting hotter and hotter, and the villagers spend their free time bathing in the river. You ask Toel'ix how you could attract more lowborn to serve under you. He says to provide housing, food, and work, and they'll be fine. An event like a small festival could draw some attention, though your unnamed town doesn't have enough to support it as of yet.

You explore your land for other resources. Amazingly, Toel'ix says that there is a deposit of Warchilite, a rare mineral used for making expensive jewelry. It takes quite a bit to mine though, but the mere prospect of it is definitely going to attract workers for a share of the profits. There's no other resources to mention, other than trees and wild game. A quarry could, in theory, be set up, but that demands a lot of resources. In's says he could rally some miners to dig warchilite, but he'll need a deed from you to ensure that he is the real deal, not some scam.

You ask Toel'ix to teach you how to write New Terran. It goes slowly but surely. Meanwhile, the potato farm has failed. There are parasites in the soil, killing the crops. The fishing isn't going good either. The number of fish has unnaturally dwindled. One of the fishers was attacked by something, breaking his leg. He can still fish, but he's not going back to the river anytime soon.

Have Toel'ix help us write a deed. We also need to find a way to attract workers for the mine. We could also get our lowborn to make some primitive weapons like wood spears to hunt the thing in the river.

On top of that, ask Toel'ix what kind of tithe our lord expects.

At this point clay pots is all we can give..

Also yes to the traders bargain BUT he can only have shares for 2 years with promise that if he runs the excavations well then we'll extend the contract longer. We need results.

Oh yeah and offer a reward to whoever kills w.e is in the water, things could get messy.

Oh an have someone destroys the potatoes via tossing them in the river, can't let those pesky insects get into our new shanties.

They drown or get eaten by fish, what else could happen?

If we can burn them then yes +1 to burning our parasitic potatoes.
