So Alex has left the guild.  Game mechanics like this, slow play and 8 hour delays don't so much work for him.  But that's fine.  Anyone else wanting a spot in the guild now?

I would love to be part of the guild

Been vaguely following this thread the last few weeks it's been up for while playing Therian saga on my own. Accidentally found you guys by asking in chat so figured I might as well post in this thread. Since it seems no one else wanted to be an Alchemist I've changed my trade from Metal (20+ in all) to Alchemy, got myself an alchemy fellow and am working on an alchemy place. IGN is Hoshllem. If you need any Resin or Tannin give me a message in game with the strength you require and I'll see what I can do, More than happy to make stuff for free, I'll just need the materials. I'll send you the recipe in response to any message. I also have the recipes on the google doc. Do note my alchemy skill is currently 10, with the workshop in hawkoria.

Pacing of the game isn't really what bothers me. My main issue is with skill progression mechanics. Restrictive hard cap on max skill ups for a specific task and limited availability of better tools combined with how your effective skill is calculated is what really bothers me. Some trade have huge gaps in the skill requirements between certain tasks which, without better tools, acts like barriers to progression. This is especially annoying me for combat skills since it is really hard to find the "perfect" enemy to train and anything slightly below or slightly above will either be useless for training purpose or considerably reduces the amount of possible training. Plus, training companions for combat is much harder and slower than it is for gathering or crafting, yet they are just as essential.

All you guys who are put off by the current guild system, it would be helpful if you'd lend your voices to the feedback forum thread on this topic. The devs seem to think they can keep players interested by forcing them to abandon what they want out of a guild and accept what they think a guild should be. There have been some good arguments posted on there, and I wrote a long post yesterday, trying to explain to the devs that being stubborn about this will lose them a lot of players, but most people seem content to just complain on the in-game chat and other forums like this one, which the devs do not see.

Even just a quick "I agree" post would help to show them that it's really the majority who feel this way, and not just a vocal minority. Because as of right now, they have no plans to change the guild system. They think it's somehow better for the game if only a few elite players get to be in a guild together. They say they don't want to make the game "too easy." HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

On the other hand, I think they are at least planning to tweak the combat system so it's slightly more logical. They really do seem to read the feedback in the forums and take it into consideration, and since it's still a pretty young game, I think there's a good chance we can influence them to make some changes. You don't even have to register for the forums, just have your character logged in to the site and you will post as them.

Personally I like the concept behind the guild system in this and would be sad if guilds got altered into giant 100-man groups. Especially if some kind of PvP ever makes it into the game (which they've suggested there will be). Maybe making it easier to raise the guild number and making the max a little bit bigger? Sure. But I am very much anti-zerg and would hate to see it altered to an obscene extent.

Do wish we could all be in the same guild though, so a cap of 50 something might be good, could be a bit zergy though. Call me Neutral.

I'll chip in with the guild feedback. Though if the devs have really set their mind on how they want it to be I doubt they'll change it.

Also I'm concocting some low quality potions I won't bother selling. If you think you could use any, feel free to mail me with the skills you'd like enhancing and I'll send you the best one I have for free. First come first serve.

Not sure if IGNs are still being tracked from this thread (Didn't quite make it through all 65 pages...I did make it through 11, so far)

I have basically created my own self-sufficient "guild" of characters.  If anyone needs resources or anything, let me know.  Feel free to add all of me.

Main =>Lithare Stone, Archaeology
Blaiyd Metal, Wood
Flayr Fashioning
Lisarus Fauna
Solarian Flora

Going to throw my two cents in the guild discussion here, and possibly over there later.

Personally, I really like the current guild system. Guilds in Therian Saga are much closer to what guild are supposed to be and I do not want any change to this, except... more on that later. However, I understand that the current system leaves a gap in community interactions that people got used to in other games and have, rightfully, come to expect in any other. This is not the goal of guilds in TS and I feel it should remain that way. A lot of people view guilds as community centers where they can meet, chat, ask for assistance or advice, easily exchange knowledge and resources. Instead of trying to change the current system, I would prefer to see something else fill in the gap, something specifically meant to create and support community interactions in a way that otherwise doesn't affect gameplay or very little.

My thought on this would be somewhat close to the clan suggestion made earlier. I would like to see something like Town Charters, which who allow someone to create a new location like any concession, but that could be shared by inviting other people. The town itself would provide little or no benefit except for having a town chat. However, it would also allow citizens to buy personal concessions at the same location and thus would allow direct trade by people there. It could also give a small bonus to constructability, making it slightly easier for people to build up their concession, or include thing like shared storage, mail box, local market, bulletin board, tavern/inn for tier 1 companions or whatever, but that's going beyond the basic concept I would like to see. Towns would have limited scope beyond helping people settle down and facilitating community interactions.

Following this, I would go the exact opposite way for guilds. It should be made clear like glass to players that This is not the guild you are looking for by increasing the starting cost and requiring at least bronze wings. The growth and members progression could remain as it is.

(No time to go back and read/think this any further, so that will have to do for now. Some thing might not make sense or be unclear... sorry about that :P)

I think that sounds like a great idea. Have you posted it on the TS forum? Because they might actually be interested in this system.

I agree I like that a lot. Especially requiring wings to be part of a guild...since that makes sense as a guild is generally a group of specialists and wings seem to declare you as such.

Wings for guild entry sounds like a decent idea.

Also:

I can now make 14 regen 4 toxicity potions. That is potentially 350 extra energy per sleep cycle, although making 25 will take time obviously.

If anyone wants some, message me in game/get in contact with me via steam chat! I'm "A shrieking cloud of bats". We'll work something out!

After seeing the wide discrepancies and overcharging that happens on the market, I decided to break down exactly how much one piece of each resource is worth to me as a fashioner, to help stabilize prices to something more sane.

As a middling 20's skill in all three fashioning disciplines this is from the perspective of a crafter who's started to hit the limits of what NPC tools and workshops can get you, and is basically just churning out basic goods to sell to NPC's to get the money to upgrade their tools and build a better workshop.

Tanning

I'll start with tanning, as its one of the simplest to break down, as well as the simplest in game. No time consuming spinning, weaving, and sewing or unreliable supplies for jewelcrafting.

I generally produce High boots mainly, although whips take a third of the resources but the same effort, and are overall more profit per resource if you can stand spending triple time churning them out.

1 soft leather gets me roughly 2 silver, although that can be increased to 3 silver for triple the time.
1 firm leather fetches about 3 silver, although that can also be increased to 5 silver for triple the time.

Both can be produced fairly cheaply, as bronze/copper blades and salt tannin are dirt cheap and easily obtained. Overhead is fairly low. The more advanced leathers have much higher overhead, and I don't currently have the skill or blade supply to reliably churn them out. Mass production is thus far less viable and selling to NPC's far less lucrative. I will however provide their baseline value if they were mass produced and sold to NPC's just so the information is available

1 Rigid leather is slightly more than 8 silver per, increased to slightly more than 10 for triple time

Tannin is still fairly easily procured for rigid, but slightly more expensive and more limited supplies. Skins and blades are what make or break mass producing rigid leather.

I currently don't have any reptile or higher leather to figure out their stats if mass produced and sold to NPC's. I will update as I get access to more leathers and skins.

Obviously if you have the market slots, you can potentially sell them for more than base price to players. I am however posting this from the position of a fairly new person with access to only the basic market slots. This is the guaranteed baseline profit of someone producing basic superior goods without taking market prices into account.  Someone producing inferior goods to skill up will be making less as well. As well as increased profits if someone can acquire the more complex resources to make higher tiers of studded and scale armor.

But for a Fashioner only, working without reliable access to metal goods, that is the baseline profit one can expect to make per the three most common types of leather.

Using that, I can more or less figure out what each skin is worth to me.

Hare skin at one soft leather, taking into account blade and tannin cost, as well as time and a healthy profit margin, would be worthwhile at 90 copper or less.

Doe, at 2-5 soft leather is significantly more valuable. it averages to about 3.5 soft leather, so it makes me about 7 silver. factoring in time, profit, and overhead, it's worth about 4 silver to me, max.

Stag, at 3-7 soft for 5 average and .75 firm makes me about 12 silver. Its worth about 7 silver max to me

Boar 2-5 for 3.5 firm, .25 rigid. Makes me about 12.5 silver. It's worth about 7 silver to me.

Bear 2-3 for 2.5 firm, .75 rigid. Makes me about 13.5 silver. It's worth about 8 silver to me.

Aurochs 2-5 for 3.5 firm, 1-2 rigid at 50% for .75 rigid. It makes me about 16.5 silver, and is worth about 10 silver to me.

(please note that this is from solely the perspective of mass selling to NPC's. Really it probably isn't viable above stag skin levels given the time It takes to hunt animals currently. You might even be better off selling raw leather on the market.)

This is a WIP of something I plan to post on the Therin market forum. Just posting it here first because I'm tired of doing maths and want to finish the other sections before I start posting there.

Haven't posted anything yet. I have been trying to refine the idea a bit before, because that last post was honestly rather rough around the edges. I finally got a draft of what I will post there, but first I wanted some feedback from other B12s to see if I missed anything obvious, could change something or did some stupid mistakes all over the place. I was also planning to translate it in french to post on that forum as well... except I would have to create an account to post there. Anyway, here's what I've got so far. Feel free to suggest any addition, subtraction or multiplication (I do not accept division or fancy stuff like exponentiation however).

Edit: Posted. I made a few changes, corrected a mistake or two and removed the Fun part :(  (seriously, yeah it wasn't fitting with the overall tone of the post.) I made a new thread because I felt it was side stepping a bit too much from the original topic of low guild membership.
