Mistakenly free the beetles because of thinking they have something to do with making cheese. Leading the beetles to over-populate and infest the fortress.

Just going to point out that Cowsea is probably most likely a demon in disguise.

Aren't there demons with the form of deities in DF? Usually as Ambassadors or so I believe ;) You might be right, mhhh....
DF lore sure change around, like now even thinking Cowsea is a demon would cause Misty to be Cursed into a wereCow, or turn into a vampire.
also those demons back then Didn't Hide their appearance of being a horrible animal shaped into form of a man they just said yo I'm a god(dess) and a bunch of folks believe it and some times imprisoned them.
that said DF is all about Bounding and befriending with Demons so that doesn't change our view with Cowsea. also we might be a kobold so Best not be revealing folks secrets.

so better grab a bucket and milk a goddess I mean atleast the talkative one would lead to a better learning experience than the others would would cave misty's head in.
Chances are if we don't make masterpiece milk/cheese we be sent to the mines or the arena pit that I'm sure all player forts would have.

You are suddenly aware that you don't actually know how to make cheese.

But... Misty told the Overseer that she was a Novice Cheesemaker, which means she had at least 500 exp in Cheesemaking. Unless she lied?

Probably just has all those labors turned off.  The last Overseer likely did it when assigning Misty to hauling duty.  So:

[V]iew, [p]references, [l]abor, Farming/Related, enable Cheese Making and Milking.

[Q]uery the Farmer's Workshop, [a]dd new task, [m]ilk animal, [r]epeat.

Wait for a notice about canceling Milk Animal: No creature, then go for the make [c]heese task on [r]epeat.

It's a start.  And Cowsea doesn't look to be the closest cow, so Misty will get above zero-experience Dabbling in Milking before imposing on the deity.

Aside from naming the layer containing the caged dewbeetles "Gay Beetle Jail" and laughing silently to myself for four hours, this was not a fun update to draw.

At least it's done.  Sorry about the wait.

It's a very complex background, but it's glorious.  Great work.

Realize that Cowsea told her to wait, go see what Cowsea wanted.

Misty's not really big on listening to authority figures, or thinking before acting.  If she actually did lie about being a Novice Cheesemaker, I would expect her to run around looking for a dwarven mentor, get distracted by something, run across the overseer, get assigned a bunch of hauling... all before returning to Cowsea.

We need the help of a veteran cheesemaker, and if there are any in the fortress they'll no doubt be on hauling duty. Resume hauling duties and covertly seek out the Yoda to your Luke Skywalker.

But Luke had to get directions to Yoda, didn't he? Through Force-powered telepathy. Sorry, but Mistem Cheeseobsessed is not a very Jedi-ish person. Also, Luke had to be taught about the Force by Obi-Wan first. And he ran into Obi-Wan by getting into serious, potentially-life-ending trouble.

Oh wait, this is DF. Nevermind. If we're truly going the "Star Wars" route, Misty ought to find some mortal danger a mentor very soon. Just like Star Wars, right?

We need to head to the great desert sand collection area in pursuit of some shiny metal object and get in a fight with the surprisingly hostile bantha giant muskoxen keepers.

Use the !power of 42.XX!. Go to the library of Shielddawn and find the book about making cheese.
Well, strange mood also will do. You should ask Cowsea, she possibly can make you posessed by her Holy Cow Force.
Anyway, you still need to milk her. Luckily, the milker skill doesn't affect the milk quality.
