It's really only Torban (and the gods) who shifted over to literal mudslinging, and that only in direct response to the reactions others had to his flirting, so it might be a bit early to say how everyone will consistently react.  To be fair, though, he also approached the two most unfriendly people in the entire caravan with that intent in mind, so I assumed that part of the fun was to see him shot down in different ways (Zita through insults, Cymea through the cold shoulder).  I think it's a little early to say that Kyle will end up being nothing more than a subject of abuse, even if the others won't sleep with him.  ^_^
