I don't know much about the narutos that I haven't picked up through osmosis and from playing a surprisingly fun fighting game of theirs.
Huh, same here. I've only played one Naruto game, and it was rather fun, but I don't remember the name of it. Other than that, I know nothing of it.

Might as well chalk it up to Pathos.
As this point we might as well invoke interpretive dance and call it a day.

"Nyaaaarrgh!"

I said cut it off!  5-pointedly!

Alright! Lets see if this will be the end!

Systar swings his cleaver down hard on the arm pinning him to the wall. The blade cuts a deep gash in the flesh and sends  blood pouring out around the gleaming metal. Ivan's grip doesn't waver though, and he pulls back his free arm. Ki visibly flows into the limb and the muscles bulge and distend, swelling against the skin and looking ready to burst free at any moment. Ki flows off the limb in a haze and Ivan smiles.

"I told you."

The punch doesn't just destroy the elevator shaft, or the walls behind it. The entire midsection of the building is instantaneously reduced to a cloud of debris, with pieces no larger then a few inches wide. It sends a shockwave forward that hits the building across the street and blows a 50 ft wide crater out of it's side. The remaining upper half of the buildings free falls down onto the lower and the damaged building across the street topples down like a felled tree. And for several minutes there is nothing, until out of the smoke and haze walks Ivan, looking tired but confidant, clinking his metal fists together and humming the Russian national anthem.

IVAN WINS!

Alright, I'd say that was a pretty good test. Opinions?

Jeez. Yeah I know he's fighting some legendary asskicker right now who apparently is going pretty hard Mary sue with powers outta nowhere. Mostly because I keep seeing people bring it up.

Honestly, I tried to read the series once but like with most manga of the type, it meanders far too much. I bet when it's over I could probably go through all the chapters and cut down the total size of the series by at least 45%, just taking out superfluous stuff.

...That makes so little frelling sense.
Anime, don't have to explain shit, etc.

I APPROVE HEARTILY! You might wanna add some sort of mechanism to prevent higher end battles from going on forever though.

Probably a good idea. Right now you still lose ki when being hit, even if it doesn't physically damage you, so there is a sort of damage being done.

But it still needs to break past the End threshold to start dealing damage to ki. I'll probably have it so that even if end completely blocks the damage, you still take some ki damage.  Because high end people should be fucking tanks and all, but they shouldn't just shrug off blows without any effect; just without physical damage.

Probably something pretty generic like gold pieces.

I can give an overview of what the final game will be like, if you'd like.

Without getting too deep into the rather generic lore which exists mostly as a framing device, it is as follows.

1. The gods are pulling human fighters off earth from different places and times to compete to be the new god of war.
2. You compete by fighting. Each fight takes place in a different area (Chosen by crowd suggestion) and winning gets you more godly power (ki), money and closer to the ultimate prize.
3. There are actually two ways to sign up for the game, fighter and spectator. Spectator has no stats, rather they just have an income and inventory. They play as the gods watching the fights and betting on them (fighters can bet too, though). Spectators can't fight, but they can use their money to influence the fights using their money. Potentially they can get themselves a stable of fighters or act as sponsors or patrons.
4. Fights will be like the one you just saw. Players can surrender in these at any time, and will have reason to since some injuries (lost limbs for instance) won't heal and it would be foolish to fight to the death if you had no chance to win this time.  However, after winning 3 fights, the player's ability to surrender becomes a question of the spectators and the Overseer's whims. The whole Thumbs up or down thing.
5. Players will get money for winning, though the amount depends how many wins they have and how much money was bet on the fight. The more money that was bet on the fight, the larger the prize.

I expect to see A good degree of spectator scheming and nastiness as well as rather dangerous and interesting arenas thought up by the crowd.
