Well, Renen's Doctor-treatment was said to slowly kill the subject over time (bullet-time wasting brain cells, I think?..), so maybe that finally caught up with him in the end.

I didn't want to ask. I was tempted, but I didn't want to ask. I like Dester's role in growing Mesenchyme, establishing humanity's foothold in the multiverse, and preparing one of the three factions in the metahuman Forever War to come. I especially like that he was fondly remembered and well liked by his people, both those who served with him before and during the Exodus, and those who he helped guide during the Conquests of the Holy Lands, as it were.

I didn't really want to make a post focusing only on Dester though, So I didn't say anything in my first comment, as I thought the whole game, all the players, and our Evil Overlord deserved more acknowledgem net than one who played or only the last year, and two missions.

What did Dester do to qualify for STAN trigger? I can't remember anything in particular and I don't think his Sharksuit counts.

... Unless the sword is still out there, forgotten, the automated systems still thawing idiots in space that wreck the rec room every now and then. I mean, it could end up being a museum or left behind in U1, but with a ship that good and historical, you'd want to use it for something. Time capsule, colony ship, flagship/HQ of the guiding hand...

Dester did get infected by the melty perception virus, though everyone except Saint has thst deleted from their mind through amnesiacs.  I imagine Xan just did something foolish, and Dester happened to be in the blast radius.

Y'know, Saint should still have the perception virus saved somewhere.  If Xan's a hivemind, it would serve as a rather effective last resort, though with the obvious downside of killing the vast majority of humanity, and probably deleting Steve and the entire Recursive Beast Universe.  Although, those aren't 100% mutually exclusive with the Conregation's goals, I suppose.
