MASH having suicide is painless as a theme was weird.

I looked it up. Apparently, the director of the movie was supposed to write a stupid song (literally, the requirement was that the song wold be "stupid") for a suicide scene in the movie, and couldn't quite do it, so he gave it to his 14year old son to do. the son wrote it in five minutes, and while his father earned 70k for directing, he earned 1 million for the song.

A million dollars for the lyrics to a song written in five minutes and designed intentionally to be a stupid song sung by an a suicidal character, which then became the theme.

The song does kinda encapsulate the feel of the movie though. And the underlying darkness of the series too.

By the way, unrelated note, Mystery Incorporated, the rather recent incarnation of scooby doo, was actually really good.  I recommend it. It gets pretty dark.

Is that the one where Fred has a serious hard-on for everything trap related? If so, I saw a few episodes of it once. I liked it a lot.

Yeah, he even had "Traps Illustrated" hidden under his bed or something.

One of the great running gags was the way they would parody the unrealistic and stupid explanations the original show used to give for how villains did things. And how it got more and outrageous as it went on.

For provisions vs. stores, I imagine that's something which was lost in translation.  Perhaps it means food vs. stuff like blankets.

Weapons probably get their own entry just because they're so much more integral to an army than anything else.  Without weapons, your enemy can't really attack.  Without armor, your enemy can still attack quite effectively, but your counterattacks will be more effective.  One wins the fight, one makes the fight easier to win.
