I want to see someone take IVAN treatment and be shot with various weapons just before mission starts. Have his bones broken and fingers torn off repeatedly until he's buffed enough. Maybe give him self-torture suit? Have your body on constant edge in exchange for constant pain.

Unfortunately, most shuttle rides to the missions take some time, which might be enough for pw to justify you starting each mission as a (mostly) normal dude.

Then keep the torturesuit on until you step out of the shuttle!

Problem, once the body has reacted to the damage and done something to remedy it, it won't change any further, I guess it would be like if you stabbed a dude with an IVAN treatment, it might grow scales on that arm or something, you stabb him/her/it again, it does nothing, so it doesn't adapt anymore.
