23:55 <Radio_Controlled>: Can I ask about the brains?
23:55 <Piecewise>: sure radio
23:56 <Radio_Controlled>: First, how big are the differences between the different kinds, roughly speaking? The different kinds of brains, for manips?
00:06 <Radio_Controlled>: Just a rough idea of what, for example, a 13 token one can handle.
00:06 <Piecewise>: The differences between the kinds are levels
00:06 <Piecewise>: 0,+1, +2,+3,+4
00:06 <Piecewise>: HOWEVER
00:07 <Piecewise>: Mind points are calculated by the number of points put into mind, NOT the pure +1, +2 stuff
00:07 <Piecewise>: so +1 is actually 5 mind points, +2 is 15 total, etc
00:08 <Piecewise>: You know how you get 5 points every level up?
00:09 <Piecewise>: And how it takes 5 points to reach level 1, then 10 more to reach 2?
00:09 <Piecewise>: That means that at +2, you have 15 points in that stat?
00:09 <Piecewise>: THose points are what I'm counting
00:09 <Piecewise>: So if you have 14 points total in a stat, you'll still only be at +1
00:09 <Piecewise>: BUT
00:10 <Piecewise>: You'll have more mind points then someone also at +1, but only with 5 points invested
00:10 <Piecewise>: The brains in the armory have AT LEAST the number of points needed to reach the level they're at
00:10 <Piecewise>: the +1 brain will have at least 5
00:11 <Piecewise>: But it could actually have anywhere from 5 to 14, which is chosen at random for each brain
00:11 <Piecewise>: Which I hinted at saying they each have different capacities, even in the same level
00:11 <Piecewise>: Alright?
00:12 <Radio_Controlled>: Yes, that was very helpful, thank you.
00:12 <pancaeks>: So, if you get +2 mind at chargen, then put 15 points in to get to +3, you still only have 15 mind points? for amps, I mean
00:12 <tryrar>: huh, soulds actually easy to understand once you explain it that ways
00:12 <Radio_Controlled>: Is there an upper limit for the +4 13 token one?
00:12 <tryrar>: no, you start with how many point it would take you to level up to +2 from what I understand
00:13 <Piecewise>: No pancake
00:13 <Piecewise>: If you're at +2 you're already at 15
00:13 <tryrar>: 5+10
00:13 <Piecewise>: to get to 15 it's implied that you're spending those points
00:13 <tryrar>: otherwise using amps at all would be hilarious carnage
00:13 <pancaeks>: oh. okay, I though the ones at chargen didn't count because you didn't really put in points. my bad
00:15 <Piecewise>: Radio: the +4 one...lets see, it takes 20 points to reach 4 from 3
00:15 <Radio_Controlled>: 50 points to get to +4.
00:15 <Piecewise>: So the +4 one could probably vary upward from the low of 50 to a high of 75
00:16 <Radio_Controlled>: Ooh, interesting.
00:16 <Radio_Controlled>: You said there would be a way to gauge their stress. Any news on that?
00:17 <Piecewise>: I'm thinking it will be an EKG sort of thing you can read with Med
00:17 <Piecewise>: or, I should say
00:17 <Piecewise>: It will give you data, which you can learn to read
00:17 <Piecewise>: or just roll med to get a straight answer
00:17 <Radio_Controlled>: ... Darn.
00:17 <Radio_Controlled>: Goddamn med.
00:17 <Piecewise>: Not gonna make it easy for you
00:18 <Radio_Controlled>: Didn't think you would.
00:18 <Piecewise>: You could always just ask the medic
00:18 <Nikitian>: Can a brain be trained to gain extra points (even if just very few at a time)? For 5-point there's not much possible, but for a 14-point it could mean transition into full new category, for example
00:18 <Radio_Controlled>: Wait, I can? I though the manip was inside the avatar?
00:18 <Piecewise>: "Hey, is dis guy ok? He's doing a lot of brain screaming"
00:18 <Radio_Controlled>: Or does that change as well?
00:19 <Piecewise>: I assume you can send the readout to them
00:19 <Nikitian>: @RC Well, you could probably give the data feeds to medics on the team, if anything
00:19 <Radio_Controlled>: Sure, but it's also for changing brains and such.
00:20 <Piecewise>: Brains are gonna be locked, I think. Otherwise it might be a bit unbalanced. People will be asking for their rifles to level up via use and this is gonna turn into some kind of weird pokemon with high powered space weapons
00:20 <Radio_Controlled>: Gotta torture them all.
00:20 <Radio_Controlled>: Pokemon!
00:27 <Nikitian>: By the way, do the brains no longer come with the manipulators (as per original "1 magazine of ammo" rule) and have to be bought separately? Effectively doubling the manipulators cost?
00:27 <Piecewise>: Yep
