Joking aside, it's probably more dangerous handling it with the tongs, given that the possession effect was capable of going through the robot body's limbs and make him feel phantom pains as it gained control. An exoskeleton and thus tongs probably won't be any different. And you probably won't be infected by the Greeneaters unless you fire the gun (or the gun fires itself, if it can do that).

You can always just ask the AM to attack you. Quicker and easier. What could possibly go wrong? If she says she's not going to do it, then make some kind of sexual remark, get into stasis and reemerge in orbit around Kano test how patiently the AM can wait for you hope someone else distracts her and find out how powerful that stasis effect really is.
