Assuming that they somehow don't notice that you're cutting your way out of the elevator, and that you go somewhere safer, and that they don't follow/head you off.
Why would they necessarily know that you're cutting your way out? Knowing that the elevator went down to floor X makes sense, but knowing that a three-foot diameter hole was cut in it's ceiling would require a pretty specialized sensor. I could see them having a maintenance sensor for that, but the people directly outside the elevator are unlikely to be looking at those.
Why would they follow/head you off? They're defending the bridge. Leaving the most important place to hunt down a single group of boarders that already decided to go
away seems like a stupid idea.
All that's kinda irrelevant though, when you realize the trap is probably just several sods that were told to shoot anyone that comes out of the elevator. In which case, cutting through the ceiling wouldn't trigger their kill order. Even if it is standard humans that will shoot ceiling people, coming from an unexpected direction would reduce the effectiveness of the ambush.
Hell, just having ten seconds to lay on the floor and ready weapons before the doors open would be helpful.
@Universal manip talk
The AM outright said "I favor a universal amp myself" at some point. I'd find the exact post, but I've wasted enough of my day searching for irrelevant information already.Actually, I was wrong. Hadn't wasted enough time yet.Sure, she said "I use the universal one" rather than "I favor a universal amp myself", but I was still generally correct. And the quick Google search showed lots of people who were saying "she might/probably/seems to have a universal amp".
Also, lots of people calling the universal manip an amp.
