Oh, no, I was talking about Dragons and how they breed with other races.

Polymorph would be a hella broken template.

Ah, that makes a lot more sense. Presumably that's how it works.

I'm a little confused about how to calculate prices for enchanted objects. How much would Gauntlets of Shock cost?

The Shock modifier is equivalent to the cost of a +1 enchantment, so assuming there are no other enchantments the Shock part would cost 2000gp.

The gauntlets themselves would be cheapest if made of mithral, at only 83.7gp.

The total cost of Mithral Gauntlets of Shock with no other modifiers would be 2083gp, 7sp. If you also added a +1 enchantment to them, the cost would go up to 10,083gp, 7sp, because the cost of a second level enchantment is an additional 8000gp, where the first level of enchantment only costs 2000gp on top of the base cost of the item. Basically, modifiers to weapons and armor will either have a flat cost or have their cost listed as being equivalent to a +n bonus. In the latter case, you check the cost table for enchantments and treat the price as if it had an additional +n levels of enchantment.

Hang on a second.
1/3 price non magic armour
1/2 price enchantments
Half price adamantine full plate = 16500/3 = 5500
+1 500
+2 2000
+3 4500
+4 8000
+5 12500
+6 18000
Total: 51000

How did you afford that?

He can't. The enchantment alone (Even at the 50% cost) is way over our total gold allotment.

Perhaps I'm missing something, but how are mithral gauntlets cheaper than normal gauntlets?

Cheapest non-standard gauntlet. Which isn't really correct since a pair of standard steel masterwork gauntlets would only cost around 70 gp

Part of Han's rules are that, Mithral being common in our home, all Mithral items are 1/2 price. Also, this:
No problems. And if anyone needs weapons or armour, you can (Assumably) pay a third of that since I do have the necessary craft skills. Unless you want a bow. You're paying standard for those.

Hans confirmed that that means that Mithral armor and weapons are 1/6th of their list price for us.

Adamantine isn't half price guys, only mithral is :P
•   Magic armor, magic shields, enhancement bonus to natural armor items, and deflection bonus to AC items have the cost of said properties cut in half. Thus armor and shields are 500 * bonus squared and natural armor and deflection items are 1,000 bonus squared. Magic weapons keep the same cost.

I was talking about the cost of the +6 enchantment being half-price (and still being too much). The adamantine would presumably be 1/3 cost because of you, though.

As I pointed out though, standard gauntlets are cheaper by a fair bit.

The costs listed are total, not incremental. +6 is 18000.

That's true. I was just saying that the cost of the enchantment is going to be the vast majority of the price, and with the cost reduction on mithral there's literally no reason to not go for it, unless you want adamantine for a specific reason.

Every table I've looked at explicitly states them as being additional cost per level of enchantment.
