Player characters must have at least 3 int. If you would go under 3 int due to any maluses from race, it stops at 3. At least, that's what I remember.

We're rolling for HP (except the first dice). So unless you got maximum 5 times in a row...

You sure? Monitor Lizard has 17 Str, 15 Dex, 17 Con, so I'd get +7, +5, +7. Only in hybrid/animal form though.
It's supposed to be -11 for odd scores. Because odd ability modifiers don't work good.

It was only 150%, and that's because he's more man than you could ever be :P.
I would have gone with the chimera thing.

The rules state that humanoid-shaped or otherwise unrideable creatures--wait, what? Is that legal?

Okay, fair enough. But really, no keeping feats or skills or anything? Even in animal form?

Also, you say I would only have a couple levels of monk. Would that mean I don't get monk goodies such as the free feats, immunity to diseases, and ki strikes? If so, I might have to come up with something else to do with my LA <_<;

ETA: Dammit, its 10 at night and I have to be up in 7 hours. I'll be back tomorrow, probably to pester you with more questions...

Not even in animal form. Otherwise you have to take Racial HD which leads to...

If you just take the LA, then you have 6 levels of monk plus the template. If you take the racial HD from the template, then you lose however many HD the base creature has, from your levels.
I think I figured this out last night while driving (yeah, sleep didn't happen). If I want to keep my monk levels, I would need to use normal kobold hit dice. If I want better HP, I can use the monitor lizard's hit dice in exchange for losing monk levels. And because monks are weird like that, once I take a non-monk level I can never go back.

Do I have the general gist of it? Am I utterly wrong?

Except that the racial HD comes before class. So you'd still be able to take monk levels.

In that case, I'm completely clueless. Can someone explain how this works simply, without acronyms? I'm starting to think of just going plain, ordinary mobile monk with no templates because I do not have enough mental energy at the moment to comprehend your arcane language...

HD = Hit dice. Generally a way of calculating how many "actual" levels a creature or character has. This is always assumed to come before class levels.

"Hit Dice" are the dice you roll to get hit points from. They count as levels, regardless of if you get them from being a monstrous race or from class levels. You need to take all the racial hit dice before you take any class levels.

Basically, imagine that these races are classes. (There are, in fact, "monster classes" for some kinds of monsters.) They're kind of like the inverse of monk levels--you can't multiclass until you've taken all the monstrous class levels.

Okay, so when rolling for HP, which hit di(c)e do I use? And do templates which have other hit die take away from class levels, in particular becoming a werecritter?

By paladin using charisma for spellcasting I'm assuming that means I need 10+cha to match the spell level to cast?
What does it mean by they now have full caster level?

For werecritters, d8 (the animal hit die). Otherwise, it depends on your creature type/class level.
And yes, they do.

Yes.
In vanilla D&D, a paladin's caster level is equal to half his/her class level (e.g, a Pal 8/Clr 4 would have the same caster level with both paladin and cleric spells). Here, said person would cast paladin spells at caster level 8.

In that case, forget becoming a werecritter. I'm not gonna lose out on the monk stuff.

Back to the drawing board AGAIN.

I'm not sure how RHD works in this game.

Sirius: you could just make a monk and not worry about it. Hans has already said there will be 'boons' so you don't fall behind in power levels.
