I know I sound very stereotypical-hipster when I say this, but I really feel like the game has just been getting nonstop gradually worse over time. They just keep/kept on completely reworking the way the game works. Just about every time I decide to try playing Robocraft again I'm met with an entirely different mechanic for unlocking new blocks than before.

Personally, I think I preferred the way the tech system worked about... two complete reworks ago? When it was basically the hex extending outwards with each part type being on its own path. I think. You could choose to 'specialize'/invest in one path or just gradually go up across all of them if you preferred that. Then there was that really weird completely-linear path where you just got new parts based on a single track, then there's this.

Also, sidenote: Is it just me, or does it feel like railguns are extremely OP now? It feels like if I go out in the open my entire vehicle will get obliterated in one railgun shot. And if it doesn't kill me, it'll cripple me so they can just finish me off in the next shot. And I can't actually retaliate against them because they have can shoot relatively quickly and are so far away my guns have no hope of ever touching them.

It's because people who had a shitton of parts before the update sold- sorry, 'recycled' their parts and get the most devastating railgun, prop it on a cheap-as-shit hard-to-hit carriage and roflstomp the very visible fliers then snipe over the heads of friendlies.


I sold up most of my parts to get a rotor blade, two base railguns and four base healers. Those fliers are relatively easy to hit with railguns, even if you get that stupid accuracy debuff from being higher than
  • above the ground. I mean, really, the flier I made is a super-stable platform and I get the accuracy debuff. Meanwhile I can get one-shotted by a dune buggy with a railgun.



Also, what ways are there to control yaw on a rotorblade bot? I ended up putting lynx thrusters in front of the blades, but it uglifies the design of my otherwise-sleek design.

However, I have the 3-blade rotor and a railgun on each forward wingtip. I have 2 plasma launchers underneath and on the tail I added a SMG. It performs extremely well, but looks a little weird without a tail-rotor. Rudders do not help, I managed to get a hawk rudder in a crate -shudder- never again... I even used glass blocks for the cockpit! But using the thrusters for yaw means it cannot turn on a dime like an actual chopper.
Could someone paraphrase the twitter link posted earlier for me? I cant see it because school restrictions.

These are those boring reviews.. Also, ironically, most people haven't complained about tiers. They complained about the new RNG-based, gambling-like economy. So his above comment didn't even address the real issue.

Buri's point about Bronze crates and losses is important.

Here's another one: I ended up with enough converted GC to buy a 12-pack of protonium crates. That's 96 drops. Here's a rough sampling of what I got:

75-85% blocks, common parts, cosmetic shit. Roughly one blue part per crate, mostly random movement parts. I didn't get a single blue weapon. Out of the entire set, I got a single purple part. It was a purely cosmetic bat wing that didn't even recycle for enough to buy a purple weapon.

From all the drops I've gotten so far, I've only seen a single purple weapon. It was a front laser.

Railguns are so ubiquitous because the other two popular guns, smgs and plasma, are pretty terrible these days.

It's also bullshit how they changed the energy shields so that size doesn't matter-the tiny little 1x3 ones barely give a few thousand less shield HP than the giant ones, so there's no reason not to just layer everything with the little ones except if you need to cover a tread or something. Saw a FFA match get won by a guy that build a flat rectangle on wheels coated with little SMGs and the smallest shields.

And then they were replaced by gunbots.

Its gunchairs all over again, except not as amusing.

Also insanegamer, rails have always had issues with being in the air. If you build a railbot it might as well be a groundbot.

People might use the bigger shields if, well, they did anything.  Normal old blocks regen at the same speed, if not faster.

Wow, this skill-based MM. Every match tonight a loss, most before 4 minutes in, and in every case with more than half of our team dead by 2-3min (usually just myself and 1-2 others left, sometimes good players, sometimes retards that got stuck in corners) and less than half of theirs dead at the end.

But yeah, the block regen is moronic. It completely removes consequence from the game; the only way to do anything meaningful is to rush as wolfpacks or spam massive amounts of railguns, and no guesses what people do.

Yeah, skill really seems to have lost a lot of meaning with the latest changes. I'm usually one of the last on my team to die (unless I do something stupid or get caught by a group of enemies) but it doesn't seem to matter what I do individually. It's all about mass charges or railgun spam.

I was kinda bummed out when I heard about the update a few months ago about revamping Robocraft and adding regen bots which seemed weird since I loved crippling poorly made bots, how does the gameplay work out now?

Well, it might seem dickish but I mean it was a valid strategy to identify weakpoints of a bot and blast off it's guns or something to get it beached. :P
