Most flyer types are pretty gimped right now. A few kinds are erratic enough to avoid getting shot down quickly, but most go down super fast to rails/missiles/flak in my experience. The only times I've seen plasma bombers do much is when one of the teams has basically no anti-air, which is really rare.

wow i really have missed a lot, huh? last time i played, missiles and flak weren't things, your primary AA was SMG overtier builds and interceptors (or really, really good railgunners)

what's stopping people from just spamming plasma bombers? shooting one down usually doesn't kill it outright, just cripples it to be mopped up later.

Currently, the answer would be: Relatively common railbots, flakbots, and combinations of the two. Lasers are not as common since the high-level ones are just worse rails with faster reload.

If the enemy team is vigilant enough, the bombers spend so much time grounded and regening they don't have that much impact.

But before flak came about, yeah, drones with plasma were basically king.

So uh, is it just me, or is premium now completely pointless to buy?

It gets you: extra platoon slot, extra colors of paint, and the second drop slot in crates.

But here's the thing, they kept the standard "this is what you get, this is what you would get if you had premium, buy premium now to get your full reward from this match!" thing. Only, they show you the premium slot item roll and let you get it if you buy premium from that screen. So every single player gets the only meaningful benefit of premium (getting that second item roll) without needing to pay for it, and if you ever roll a really good item in the premium slot you can just buy a day of premium to nab it then take the opportunity to give your bots a new coat of paint.

I don't know if it is a good idea from their side or not, but it does seem to me that the extra Platoon slot and the Colors are now the main reason to buy Premium. Which is fine from avoiding a Pay-To-Win experience, I guess.

Also, lol, just got my second purple item drop. Another front laser, the least useful weapon in the game. Again.

near-instant regen confirmed to not disturb balance

totally fair for nobody on losing team to ever get better than bronze crates, even if they do better than people who got diamond on the winning team

Oh yeah, and if you want to farm drops, play FFA, you get three per crate instead of one. It's also much better for running obnoxious tiny bots; I use a microtank with one of those Protonium Seeker things on it.

Also just got my first Legendary drop, a Ghost module. 10 power per second for cloaking, disables power regen while cloaked, drops if you shoot or take damage. Ten second cooldown before it comes back up. If I get myself a shotgun I might have the makings of an assassin. Alternately, an even more annoying Gauss poptart.

It's...big. And handicapped because I don't have enough CPU yet to do much with it. But it is tough and can take a HELL of a beating. Damage output is kinda pathetic at the moment, but it's enough to be useful and distract enemies while more useful teammates kill stuff. Got Diamond on my first run through on TDM.

Ideally I'd add two Flak cannons to the side and a Shield Module on it. But I'm not sure there is enough CPU max in the game to do that.

I like being able to medic. Thus, it is more fun now that you can.

Yeah, but they balanced out against other bullshit like clifftop rail walkers and plasma bombers. Now nobody uses them because regen is broken.

Though admittedly I got lucky with the drops and have a single purple-rarity nano. By itself it eats through energy like it's nothing, but it does a damn good job of keeping people alive under fire and earning me tons of points. I seem to earn more healing than fighting for whatever reason, which is great when grinding in the Battle Arena (or whatever the mode is that gives you four parts at once).

I have two purple nanos, plus however many are on my mech.
