The Kingdom of Lorn (D&D 3.5 PbP) [5/5 Players]
« on: December 16, 2013, 09:36:47 pm »

In the Grand Kingdom of Lorn, where you reside, a dangerous and unknown threat has arisen. Diplomats sent to the western kingdoms don't return, and the rare knight who does make it back reports the cities in ruins, with fire covering the landscape. In light of this, you've started to wander the land as an adventurer. You and those that you're adventuring with have met up through some means, and have been told that a priest of Pelor in a small town one day's travel east named Abeli is looking for some warriors to help him with some issues nearby. You don't know of the specifics, but given the reward of 20 gold per person, it's likely rather easy. Do you travel to Abeli, or decide against it? If you decline, what do you do instead?
For character generation, I'm using organic rolling, in which you roll 4d6, and drop the lowest. You can then reroll one stat and switch any two stats if you like.
This is going to be a Play-by-Post D&D 3.5 game. I'm doing this partially to familiarize myself with the rules of 3.5, so if I mess something up, please let me know. I'm not instating any home rules to begin with, though I may create some if I find it would aid the game. I also don't plan on using any books besides the core rulebooks, outside of taking some monsters out of them, but if you'd like to suggest some, I'll take them under consideration. As for characters, purely for ease on my part, I would prefer you filled out and sent me the PDF form found here, though feel free to use another format if you desire. As far as monster characters go, I'm fine with it as long as it's humanoid, sentient, and has a level adjustment below 1. Also, abusing OOC knowledge (Outside of things your character would likely know anyways, that is, like what a dragon or a goblin looks like) is a bit of a pet peeve of mine, so try avoid that.
Important: Would you prefer I used just text, or ASCII representation accompanied with text?

I'll get something in soon, though it's currently my birthspawnday, so it might be delayed a little.
ASCII representation and text is good, though I would only say it's necessary for combat and such. Towns and the like do fine with just description. Dwarmin - as  a different DM - runs off juist description, though it makes things a little foggier with reach etc.

Would it be possible to fill out a form on Mythweavers instead? It's somewhat easier to change when things happen.

Old and cringe account. Disregard.

Anything's fine, so long as it has all the information and I can view it.

Hmmm... I believe for this campaign, I will join here and make whatever character the party seems to lack. Or not, if I get bored waiting.

And text, please. It means less granularity to the combat. You can be surrounded by more than eight other guys, and you can hit things from any angle.

What system is being used for stat generation?

Hmmm...

I really want to make a tiny rogue here, preferably of the fey persuasion. Does anyone have any suggestions for Tiny size races that don't break the LA requirements?

Since he's doing this to learn how to run the game, I'd suggest staying away from anything smaller than "small" as a general principle.

I think I'll be a monk, because I don't feel like dealing with an inventory or equipment.

Sad. I think I found one that works, too, for my professional kneekicking needs.

Gah, sorry! I meant to put that into the OP. It's organic rolling. (Roll 4d6 for each stat, dropping the lowest die. You can reroll one stat, and switch any two stats if you want to.) Adding that to the first post.

So by "switch any two stats" does that mean we can choose which numbers go where, or we can only switch two of them?

As a side note, I somehow got some actually really good rolls for once. (well, mostly it was the 1's getting dropped)

You can only switch two of them. Also, I generally work on the policy that if you get all scores being lower than 10, you can reroll all your stats. Feel free to keep a character that's below average in everything if you like, but you don't have to.

Hmm, all of my stats rolled either 14's or 16's, except for a single 12, and that one hit intelligence.
I may switch one of the 16's so it's in the Wisdom slots, though.
Yeah, I'll give Strength the 14, so I can get better Wisdom.

Since the site I use to look at rulebooks if giving me the finger right now, what all do monks get at first level?
I know the have base saves in everything at +2, Flurry of Blows, Monk AC Bonus, Monk Speed Bonus, and Stunning Fist, and an unarmed damage of D6's.
Do they have anything else? Oh, also, do they have a hit die of D6 or D8? I think it's D6.
