What Is Your Gear Loudout?
« on: December 08, 2013, 01:34:25 pm »

Basically I'd like to see how you all make your adventurers and their development. Lately all I've been doing is giving them an Iron 2-H With iron/bronze armor, but they get slow at that point. 500-900 speed left depending on how much iron I'm wearing.
What kind of weapons do you use, and what kind/if you use armor?

O.o
I've also been squeezing Emus and releasing them repeatedly to get Legendary Fighting/Wrestling.

Equipping many shields and letting enemies beat you is a good way to increase stats.
I get a point of speed like every 5 steps by just smashing dot.

Ehm what?

He skips his turns by pressing . to let people hit him and bounce off his shields which improves his stats.

With a head like a block
he went out for a sock,
his ass I won't bother to save.

Oh. I thought he meant he gains a point of passive speed every 5 tiles from doing some sort of activity.

Train lots of skills and you'll soon get faster :)

Copper pick, whatever armor I can find, as many shields as I can find, bone bling made from my kills.

One weapon, one shield, whatever armour becomes available. Helmet and body armour have priority, but with dwarfs and elves, i take whatever i can get.

After one day of grinding, one shield is enough. I never even consider wearing multiple shields.

My adventurers usually end up wearing ludicrous combos of way too many clothes, though. And i'll happily wear (human or other sentient) bone jewellery if an opponent drops some.

I try for a full suit of iron armor and a steel/iron longsword. I then train myself from the ground up in a secondary and tertiary method of attack.

Indrick Boreale specializes in Swordsman(Legendary), Lasher(Master) and a variety of kicks and punches and bites around adept that I might have levelled by just punching a crippled bronze collossus.

I mean, it's not really that hard, is it? Anyone can wield a torch, it doesn't prove anything. Wearing flaming clothes on the other hand, or better yet, wearing nothing at all and being on fire... that is the essence of dwarfish behavior."

I got lucky with my last adventurer and i found an (Almost) complete steel armor set, one piece at a time (A steel helmet in a dragon lair, a
breastplate in a shrine, etc). I only need greaves now.

I think dwarven adventurers were not very successful in this world. I have begining to take their bodies for proper burial.

In a hole in the ground there lived a dwarf. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a dwarf fortress, and that means magma.

Two swords (preferably long swords), one light shield, as much iron/bronze armor as I can wear, one quiver, about 20 metal arrows or bolts.

This. Picks are the pick to pick.

playing Masterwork, first thing I do is go to every fortress and town I can find until I get a full suit of armor with boots and gauntlets, and a shield.

Out of all the weapons I've tried, a pick is easily the most useful. At no skill I was bisecting mooks left and right with a steel pick. Compare to my steel zweihander, which I was properly trained in, which didn't have nearly as large a ratio of attacks to "flying off in an arc!" Picks are nifty for when you want things dead.

With the upcoming combat update he can even combine those for multiple, simultaneous, devastating and quite possibly defensive deep strikes! :P
