Also check the shield again, then go through everything else just in case.

Arcana check on the shield! Call up Unseen Aid to assist.
It is in Nadarr's hands, but... (FUMBLE) You accidentally trigger something and magic shoots out of the shield! You take (1) damage and fall off your mount! Thyra giggles as she watches you try and get back on.

Also check the shield again, then go through everything else just in case.
(FUMBLE) ((this die hates you guys...)) The shield does the same thing to you, except this time, you damage the shield! You take (1) damage, fall off your horse, and the shield now needs an arcana check to be repaired before you attempt to check it again. Thyra laughs loudly at you as you suffer the same fate. Everyone else begins to join in, including Weston.

"Let me have a look at it"
(11+9) She repairs the shield and tells everyone its a Tenser's Circular Shield.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

She tosses it back at Nadarr. ((Didn't expect to his the proper DC for repair AND check in one...))

Karl gets his chuckling under control long enough to say in a fairly steady voice "Yes, let's try left again." before he goes back to laughing to himself.

The party chooses to go left. The sun is starting to set in the sky as you leave this area. You go on for a long stretch, still at a fast trot, and you climb up slopes, cross another log bridge and pass through a cave that twists and turns in all directions. You all realize it is really easy to loose your sense of direction in this place. When you exit the cave, you come across another crossroad. You also notice its starting to get late; the sun no long touches the sides of the mountains. Within the hour, it will be dark. The path splits off into five ways, three of which are more caves.

The map updates!

"Well, this is NOT a good place to camp. We need to find some confined space that can stay lit easily, and preferably where any nasties can only come from one direction."

Walk to each cave in turn and cast light into them, looking in before going to the next.

Walk to each cave in turn and cast light into them, looking in before going to the next.
You check out each cave quickly. The one to the leftmost goes up and spirals to the left after a ways. The middle one goes down and turns to the right. The one on the far right goes down and curves right, but it goes more shallow then the one before. You also notice that there are holes scattered along the walls that are rather large. Much bigger then the charred holes and obviously dug out. You recall those shadow creatures made holes as well, but some are much larger.
