((As requested, if Lay on Hands will also fix my horse's legs, Karl does so. If not, he'll kill it cleanly.))

Karl gets to his feet with a groan and spits bear blood out of his mouth."Well, aren't we going to smell wonderful in a few hours?" he says as he bends to check on his faithful mount.

Attempt an arcana check on the unknown corpses to see if they are something fey, shadow, elemental, etc. Use new power to help.

"Ugh. These poor souls were ripped to shreds. At least we avenged them, somewhat."
(?) You discover that they are natural origin.

Taste Bouchart's blood to check up on how tasty he is. Afterwards close his eyes if they weren't and loot his body. Stab the horse through the heart with the widow's knife and then taste the horse's blood.

Mumble quietly to himself

"Today was quite the feast. Better make sure I do this more often."
You taste the halfling's blood. It reminds you of back in Crimmor where these guys were plentiful. It tastes rather sweet for blood. You then go and kill his horse and gain total concealment. You taste the blood of his animal as it dies, and you remember you really never did like the taste of animal blood.

You gain all of bouchart's gear. (1 dagger, 1 hand crossbow, 209 gold, 2 healing potions, 50 crossbow bolts, a suit of small leather armor, and his hunter's flint)

You swear also, as you loot his body, you hear hisses and clicks in a distance, but as you look for the source, you find nothing

Your mount's legs are heavily wounded to the point more then just magic can help it, and even then, there is no guarantee that it will be able to walk after the horse's legs are fixed. (several nature/heal checks required)

Quickly run back to the party and shout.

"Everybody, inside the cave, they are coming!"

Use the Flint to light up the dead tree.

"Grot, prepare your lantern after the glaive goes off! If anybody has any remaining ways to produce light wait until we're in darkness before using. Stick to the cave, it'll force them to come from only one way. Karl, I think we could burn your horse at the entrance of the cave as well. Your choice though. Bouchart is dead, I got his flint and then heard the hissing. Well, what are you waiting for? Get moving!"

The dead tree with the bear scrapings on it lights easily, but its light fails to reach the cave. The sun finally goes down, and the sky burns bright pink and orange. You rush back to the cave, and yell at the others to get ready. Grot's face turns to panic as he fumbles about to grab his lantern. He brings the horse and cart into the cave, which is just big enough to fit. The light of day fades away. The trees light begins to fade as darkness begins to fill the opening towards the cave.

And the voices, laughter and other familiar sounds of the night before return. The shapes and shadows grin as screams are heard and Archuther's glaive shines low light. Symon notices that they're actually focused on one member of the party; Archuther. They speak in a language so fell and dark, and no one understands the language. They all begin to laugh, chant and grin as they step into the low light area of Archuther's glaive.

((Map coming soon, I'm kind of in class. Initiative will come then too.))

Hears Aurel shouting of the coming threat. Dashes to the cave as suggested, then stands in the mouth with staff held in a slant in front of him. Looks at the others with a grim expression upon his Draconic features, heightened by the far-off glow of the burning tree.

Hurry! The foe approaches, and I for one intend to meet them on my terms...face to face! These shades shall feel the touch of Dragonborn flame and light!

"All I can do is throw explosive fireballs around for light, sorry. Wait. Actually..."

Weston draws the lightning dagger and activates it.

((Does the dagger emit any sort of light? Also, can I get a recap of its properties? I sorta forgot :P ))

Start cleaning all of this mess off of me.

"Well it's a d%& good thing I showed up to save your sorry a$#s. That f^&%er almost put up a fight!"
Cromwell dropped the now-empty bottle of dwarven rum, clanging loudly.
"Now which one of you b!&$^es knows where I left my reindeer's feedbag at?"
He then looked out of the cave, and noticed the dwindling light.
"Well, f$% a b*%^& in the a$#, that b&^%$d of a sun is running away from me again! Every d&^% day! You coward! Snending yer d&^% ponies out to play!"
Wiping the drool from his lip, he finished,
"Who the h&%! are you guys?"

"Rest well." Karl says as he puts down his horse. Face grim, he moves to the front of the cave, longsword and shield at the ready.

"Lord Archuther. We are the best armored, let us keep them back from the others."

He mutters a prayer to the Raven Queen, and the blood covering his sword hisses into steam as a cold light radiates from it.

((Move to the entrance and use it as a chokepoint so the ranged casters can fight from safety (or keep lighting torches as necessary.) Cast Bless Weapon for this encounter.))

Symon sticks with the party.

"Um..." Symon gestures at the creatures with his flail, "Aren't they going after Archuther?"

Get in front of mastahcheese using my full concealement and slap him lightly.

"Get a hold of yourself, you fool! We don't have time for this. Prepare yourself, enemies approach! We'll talk later!
Friends of yours, lord Archuther?"

Cromwell, at being barely slapped, falls flat on his face.
"Dude, I just used up, like, all of my powers. My terrible word failed, my doom star failed, the only thing I got left is the ability to teleport, since I only needed a smoky step or whatever for that."
Cromwell solemnly sat back up.
"You understand that? I'm burnt out. I need to rest."
Cromwell falls backwards, and begins snoring.

"Oh for the love of..."

Steal Cromwell's pants and shove them in his face.

"Symon, with Karl! Nadarr and Weston behind them. Be sure to leave some space for Grot and me too, wizards."

"Oh for the love of..."

Steal Cromwell's pants and shove them in his face.
If this would be successful, teleport away, after grabbing their own pants.

Karl turns his head and glares at Cromwell. "I don't know who you are. I don't care, either. If you do not make yourself useful, I swear to the Raven Queen that you will suffer my wrath."

((This can only end in tears. :P))
