The Headless Hero
« on: November 24, 2013, 12:29:06 pm »

So, i was browsing in Legends Mode after some cool guys who made something epic, so that i can meet them and fight them.
After some search i found this guy:
Adet Tuggedcolor... what's so epic about him? He survived an attack from a giant lion. Well kind of, i think...because he not only lost his right arm and his nose, he also lost his head.
Is this a bug? He still lives and the last thing we heard of him how got obsessed with his own mortality...Haha good joke.
After the fight he also became the "high lobster" of "The sunken Denomination"...What is the game trying to say? What is this madness?

This thread is why I love dwarf fortress. We start at engravings of wagons and end up using necromancy to raise them from the dead, and were-wagons.
I jumped off a ramp in a cave and exploded.

Most definitely a bug. Just like people who live well past their old-age limit, once the game notices Adet, he will realize he is dead and act accordingly.

Looks like one of those cases where the game doesn't realize that the creature is too injured to live until they get loaded ingame.

I will run the experiment to completion anyway, however. Even if the only reason why there is a punctured equilibrium in the fortress is because I have been brutally butchering babies
EDIT: I just remembered that dwarves can't equip halberds. That might explain why the squads that use them always die.

This means he became "high priest" of sorts of some religious cult - "The sunken Denomination". "High lobster" is his rank, the game picks the name randomly.

Intelligent is a strong word to use around DF.
you're lucky it wasn't an adventurer.  I've heard they can bash your skull in by throwing water at you.  UNDERWATER

If I saw that on the map screen, heading towards my fortress, I'd shit myself.

Considering a giant sperm wale, the largest creature in the game is only 1 tile big (dispite haveing a volume that should be at least a 6m sided cube) I really dont want to contemplate how big something would need to be to end up as a 3x7 chunk of map tiles.  Would be even scarier when you realized that toady hadn't implemented multi tile creatures yet.

I love the idea that large creatures should be modelled as cubes.

Technically wagons are multi-tile creatures

Seconded, on the condition that he end all his posts with "... So sayeth The High Lobster", ( :P) and a link for clarification. Also, all high-lobsterism should have a limited term time, somewhere between two and four years, at which point re-elections take place, but with no maximum re-election limit. And there should be vows, and oaths.
