Well, given that we're now approaching the late-game (our dear Princess only needs to survive until she reaches the age of 15, remember - doesn't matter if she gets torn apart by magical assassins just after her coronation), it seems fairly safe to make two assumptions, namely that;

a) Any skills that have limited usage (ie. are only rolled for once or twice) are statistically likely to now see no use
b) Any skills we do need to use need to be at a high level, probably near maximum, because that's how late-game stuff typically rolls with skill checks (based on prior CRPG experience).

So in other words we should probably maximise the skills we think we'll need to use, and we've got just about enough time that we could maybe fill out another skill if we haven't started to invest in it.

That said, I'll place a vote for Resist Magic x2, since hardly anything has tried offing us with magic yet.

I disagree on "a".  Skills that have appear to only have limited usage, as you say they have only been rolled once or twice, are probably more likely to see use.  We haven't been tested on certain skills yet, ergo we're likely to be tested on them now.

At least that is one argument.

I agree on needing maximal skills to succeed in late-game however.  Probably best to max out those skills in the mid range and pray the skills with zero investment just don't come up.   :P

EDIT: Wait-a-sec, we're only on turn 31, out of what appears to be 40, so we're not really in the endgame yet.  Maybe pre-early-end-game?

x2 naval
I am pretty sure 1x naval would max us out now, wouldn't it? No need to do it twice.

Why do so many of you people hate making use of our goddamn bonuses!

We wanted to be a Lumen, we are now a goddamn Lumen - let's AT LEAST finish off our lumen training (and maybe our spy training) (both of which we have bonuses for and can train very quickly now!) before starting on random stuff, eh?

I can actually understand the polearm desire now (I just remembered we still haven't gotten that outfit! And nothing is more important than playing dressup!), but now is not the time to use that, Red! Come mood day, I will support people switching to a weapon-boosting mood, so long as we top off Lumen and Espionage whenever we are willful. Well, maybe not top off, but at least get the skills within one session of topping off (we seem to be having some time to prepare so far... Intrigue seems like the sort of thing we'd want topped off just-in-case, but Lumen we'd probably be good with one skill topped off and the others just short)

Except Internal Affairs. We just killed off all of our internal problems and made everyone fear our utter badassery. I think we'll be good there.

Yeah, in the longer term I'm for finishing Lumen skills and working on Intrigue. Use the gorram bonuses while they're there at the very least.  :P

Week 32: Trumpets

Resist Magic 23
Foreign Intelligence 4
Naval Strategy 4
Dogs 4
Sense Magic 3
Polearms 3
Running 2
FOreign Affairs 2
Dance 1
Internal Affairs 1
Ciphering 1
Swords 1
Internal Intelligence 1

Also representable as "Resist Magic: 23; Anything Else: 27"

Interesting all around.

Also interesting. Fair amount of innate or long-lasting resistances this high up.

And of course.

Maybe a lull in the executions?

Why did nobody tell us we were allowed to do that?

Everyone loves battle!

Oh, or... yeah, music and stuff. Competition, not just... anyway.

The hand of the princ- oh, right, we're marrying our frog-catching pet.

...

Clemency?

These are also good options. Everyone loves this stuff as well.

Employment! Because why are we going to add another potential rebel, and I don't think we should be spending money all to quickly right now.

Employment.

We just won a civil war and that without pardoning criminals. Last thing we want is to run out of soldiers (and this time we have opportunity to get good guys!)

Status I don't want to employ anyone who could also stab us in the back. Assign them to some shitty border province.

Plus, maybe we can find a better husband than Froggy McPrince. I mean look at what he did during the Civil War: Nothing!

At this point, any guy that cannot at least shoot laser from his eyes is beneath us.

Employment sounds simple enough, but what if we hire a spy?

Just playing devil's advocate. O.o

I honestly have no idea what the impacts of the various options are, so I'll throw my lot in for Employment. It allows us to come off as not stingy, because we ARE still paying them, but we still get something out of it.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.
