IronyOwl: Is there a modifier for battles if one side is significantly stronger, or can one peasant-rag 'hero' hold off an army alone at 50% odds/turn?

Where do we find out where a battle is, anyways?
Check the army positions in the spoiler. They're both at C0 now, which is the Plains. Since only violent people get forcibly conscripted, there is a battle.

(GWG, of course they would do more damage, we don't do any at all!
Edit: would it be possible to do odd jobs like say go to the quarry and help out for a bit of cash?)

Nepthym knelt and took stock of the stone.

She wondered if there was any deposits of Harmonic Marble here. Usually, they were used in grand temples, but the stone itself actually came from high above the heavens themselves, only occasionally impacting mortal worlds-and as such, unclaimed sources tended to be old ruins, or the Godly strikefire from the sky-which people call meteorites, on some worlds. Few people, however, were able to put to as good as use as the Rah.

Action: Check around the quarry lands for any deposits of Harmonic Marble, my races favored building material. If so, try and direct the slags to begin harvesting it.

(By that logic, each of us would do more damage than the other.
Which might be half-true, if the GM lets me use the steak as a weapon.)

((What logic?! On that scale everyone does the same damage and that's zero, also I doubt that's ham does any damage because it was never mentioned if you could use food items as a weapon.))

((That doesn't mean that we can't make fun of it for a bit.
Besides, we're tough enough to be measured on the soldier scale...))

The latter, though the odds are actually a bit lower than 50% due to ties damaging both parties.

Generally no. Random base structure-inspired events have a chance to involve money if appropriate, but you're unlikely to find any at most other sources.

I vote that Errol's character continue watching the battle, so we can get a turn.

Somehow I forgot to actually post an action for this. Continuing to watch the battle and facepalming at tactical decisions sounds solid tho.

Turn 2: Ready FIGHT

"Thish ish the besht shtuff." *Dook dook* "...Thish place hash sh-shtrange mana, but I think .. Look what I can do!"

Show off for the locals of the Murmuring Folk Village with a magic show with lots of colorful lights and ineffectual psyhcadelic plastic-wrap force fields.
[5][2] The locals are so impressed with your magic that they drunkenly declare you a wizard and get you a wizard staff. Everyone knows wizards need wizard staves.

What most people do not know is that wizard staves are gnarled wood topped by a dead plucked chicken. Apparently. You're not sure if the chicken is real or magically preserved or what; it certainly looks real, but feels kind of rubbery and not-dead.

+Chicken Staff of Dazzle 1 [Activated Target: 1 HP worth of enemies fail to contribute their Att or skills to the current battle]

he looked at them, thought about his training as a worrier and a diplomat, he never liked diplomacy, to much talking for him but at the same time he couldn't deny it was certainly helpful at times.
point out the fact that I am, obiously a two face of war and diplomacy and not so subtly tell them they shouldn't mess with someone who has had master training in the art of warfare and diplomacy, also keep following GWG, might as well anyway
[6] They say that when all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail. When all you have is a hammer and a feather... maybe everything looks like ticklish nails. Whatever the case, one thing leads to another and you find yourself in a circle of jeering "White Claws," members of some Bakerling gang, ready to face their leader in a fistfight.

After all, nobody messes with either of you.

Gardenia give a bore look before crawling away from the battlefield.
Wander the center for things of interest
[4] You slip away from the battle, approaching the portal and its surroundings. Various creatures come and go, having business with the portal, shrine, market, arena, smaller points of interest, or roads elsewhere.

One catches your eye on a whim. He looks to be dressed in patchwork, a straw hat shadowing his face, heavy gloves covering his hands and heavy boots over his feet. His round glowing red eyes and unnervingly large, pointy grin show through the shadow, though. He has a large square leather backpack on his back, and a rather large sword unsheathed in his lap.

He doesn't appear to be doing anything in particular; resting, perhaps. He's sitting on a hay bale, swaying slightly as though singing or listening to music.

Attack the guys who insulted me. Use the meat as a weapon. Don't kill them, just rough 'em up a bit.
(There's no way they can have more Attack than a 1st-level adventurer, right?)

After that, find some less insulting events. Maybe locate a battle to join. Maybe that one in C0. Where do we find out where a battle is, anyways?
[4] That goes about as well as someone attacking several muscular Slags with a lump of meat can: You get some good blows off, avoid some good blows yourself, and the Slags are laughing and making a game of it.

On the downside, turns out Slag thugs are strong. They hurt when they landed a blow, and they weren't especially impressed with your meatclub.

Action: Check around the quarry lands for any deposits of Harmonic Marble, my races favored building material. If so, try and direct the slags to begin harvesting it.
[5] You don't find any Harmonic Marble. In fact, you don't find much of anything except cakestone, the layered shades-of-grey rock that makes up this entire region.

This homogeneous, featureless region. You don't think this world has ever seen an extraplanar or even celestial event like would be required for Harmonic Marble, or anything else, for that matter.

In fact, you're pretty sure this world is downright virgin- and underdeveloped, at that. Old worlds have scars, foibles, features, quirks- this world, as far as you've seen, has been unnaturally homogeneous and dull. Even a violent birth should have left more than this- most likely, this world experienced a very short, methodical creation, quite possibly interrupted early.

Almost makes you wonder what it is here that's worth fighting for.

After thanking the townspeople, visit Holo. Make a token effort to resist petting the nice goddess if she appears in wolf form.

Sadly not. Dazzle 1 is only useful for wounded targets.

Vow vengeance. Smack one of them with the meat as I locate a battle to join. To get XP and loot, so I have a chance of doing anything.
